How to torrent files with deluge on Unraid, safely!

I can't get to the web UI of Deluge for some reason and have no clue where to begin troubleshooting.

I know its old video but really great video for setting up. Only 2 hickups i had was the appdata and open it up to SMB and then the VPN log ins. Those 2 confused me mostly because of the video not leading me to it. I did figure it out and took about 2mins but i could imagine it might confuse. Thanks for great guide.

its incredible how you make such an effort to explain something as simple as starting or stopping a docker,,, which is the most simple thing anyone using unraid would run across, yet the most complex things like service credentials part, you skim through it like if it was nothing... its annoying really .....wht happens if I want to use pia?? could you point me to an actually useful tutorial that shows this process with deluge > pia ? thanks

I love this guide for its easy step by step but two things I wanted to note. First, you never came back to those 3 folders you had us make and described how to set them up within deluge. and second, for us non networking pros I would have liked more info on where to find my LAN_NETWORK IP since for me this description is super vague and I wasn't sure which IP to put in there (servers IP, routers IP, or.. Other) // And the answer was Other which made it even harder to find. I still don't know why, but, it's working!

I have my domain forwarded to my internet ip going through cloudflare for ssl. Will doing this break my initial configuration of my server?

I personally use qbit instead of deluge. One thing I am concerned about with both of these is monitoring the connection.

Does anyone know of a dashboard plugin that would show the state of the VPN connection?

E.g. "connected" "disconnected" "killswitch engaged" .

I hate not having easy visibility of the connection state. I can see it in the docker logs but that's not exactly a convenient way to check it.

I'm a bit lost on port forwarding in combination with a vpn. I seem to be getting very slow speeds and I have no upload at all with Ubuntu torrent. What do I need to open? Isn't it controlled at the VPN host?

Is there any method on replacing deluge that’s already configured in unraid (transfer settings) or will this use the same app data?

Does it have a Kill Switch? So it will cut the connection if it is lost.

My deluge is PAINFULLY slow, I'm gonna have to mess with it tonight and follow your tutorial this time to see about getting it going decent. Praying it works !!

I am unable to access the deluge UI after enabling the VPN. Anyone have an idea what this issue could be? The container is reporting a public IP that is not my own, so the VPN is working.

Thanks for the video. This worked for me 90% of the way. I went to the Support page and used the NAS > How to Setup a VPN on Synology instructions. Specifically, the download the list of certificates file link. I unzipped the file that downloaded and found the .crt and .key files that match the .ovpn server I downloaded and copied them into the same folder and that worked for me at least.

What’s the chances of a ip leak occurring? I haven’t don’t torrenting at home before but got flagged never did it again since then.

Some tips. Having two shares /downloads /media hard link will not work. How you have it right now when something is downloaded and imported via radarr it will make a copy into the desired folder.

If you have move your downloads into a sub folder in the same share. for example /media/downloads and /media/movies/

This will create a hard link and will not have two copies of the same continent

UDP is faster than TCP for tunnels. Opnvpn is slower than other options (but has better user management and ease of deployment)
