This makes me sad because it reminds me how intriguing the mystery of the Chandrian is and we may never get any answers.

Someone on Reddit mentioned that different time dates, like Lanre being 5,000 years old and when the Blac of Drossen Tor took place, along with others, don't exactly fit. I'm not entirely sure if this is purely because the information mostly stems from folkoric sources and thus the dates are not the important bit and could be inaccurate, or because Patrick is trying to hint at something else...

Part 2?

On my most recent read through I had the thought that Puppet was most likely Teccam. Barefoot guy who's totally eccentric and uses a fake name because his real one would be "telling". The curtain in his room could be covering the cave mouth, or perhaps the cave is behind the 4 plate door. The black masters robes also makes sense, including his casualness with them. He's not A master, he's THE master. If there is knowledge better left unknown hidden in the archives, he could simply have the candles to destroy the knowledge if the need arises. Plus there is a lot of candle imagery in the books that we don't really know much about outside of a lukewarm Chandrian test so perhaps there is a greater reason for them.

Painting a red headed dude not looking goofy is hard it seems since most art of Kvothe is him being super feminine and generally scrawny af. The anniversary edition had the most beautiful depiction of Denna and the absolute worst depictions of Kvothe

My theory about puppet and the 4 plate door is they are keeping all the banned knowledge there. Puppet is there with candles to know if the chandrian shows up in an effort to distroy the material containing information about them. I believe this is a protective measure as that information generally gets people killed. The 4 plate door room may also serve as a study hall to research the Chandrain and not get detected by whatever magic helps them find you otherwise they wouldn’t have a door they would probably make a one way deposit device.

The logic to support why I think this. I believe that artifacts that are not hidden by magic or holy effects catch the attention of the Chandrian. The pot that was discovered must have been in a protected holy/magic shell and once disturbed they came for it. Nina use the pages of the path and left angels and Tehlu name on it which is why they aren’t looking for it. We also know the the Chandrian are effected by holy things bc Cinder freaked out when Martin was praying (calling to Tehlu and the same angels Nina left in the page)
The 4 plate door is most likely a holy ward of sorts and Puppet with his candles are the fail safe.

i have yet to see this theory anywhere. Pat loves threes. The books talk about threes all the time. So what we know is there are two realms, the four corners and the fae. what if there’s a third. Lanre is stuck in the four corners as long as people know what he did. what the chandrian did. the third world, through the doors of stone is heaven, lanre and the chandrian want to go there to finally have peace. that’s why they use denna to put out a song that changed his story. but everyone that knows what they really did they go and kill, like kvothes family, and the wedding party for finding the urn.

Something that I noticed in the first book is the rhyme from Arliden:

“Something something ell” could be Myr Tariniel. This could imply that the greystones are a sort of marker that lead to Myr Tariniel
