Ansley's chops and accents are nothing short of amazing 👏
ОтветитьGreat video! The guy is Awesome!
ОтветитьWho doesn't know Aynsley Dunbar? He played with everyone from Burdon to Zappa!
ОтветитьGREAT HANDS, MY FRIEND.
STILL GIGGING AT AGE 72. (60 yrs solid)

Thanks for doing a video on Ainsley Dunbar.
There are lots of great session drummers and great drummers with a permanent place in a great band and Dunbar has been both of those.
He is among the best drummers in rock.
Ansley is awesome.
ОтветитьI heard his playing on Zappa's Grand Wazoo. Great album.
I hate rock, so I didn't listen to the others bands.
Agree
ОтветитьAnother nice vid Guy. Love your kit.
ОтветитьThis is probably the most important drummer video I have seen in my life. Because of your video I have just realized that Ainsley Dunbar is one of my top 5 drummer influences since I was a boy… I’m 43. Thank you. 🙏
ОтветитьMy brother my son plays for King Nine a hardcore band. I put him on his kit at 7 he’s 36 now has some albums out but refuses to take it serious sadly says the biz is rigged. I know Felix and said he would help with the last album but a drummer who is as great as you (did you catch the worship?) might change his perspective? I’ve followed Zebra since 77 in Long Beach when you had hair. They have a lot of studio time booked this summer for two new releases.
ОтветитьGood vid, thanks. Can you do a vid on Penti "WHITEY" Glan. Who played with Alice cooper and Featured in the movie The Rose. There is not a lot of info on him. There are other high profile drummers , but I like the way he played.
ОтветитьInfinity Album is my favorite album of journeys to this day.
ОтветитьCheck out "playing for keeps" a magical colloboration from Keith Emerson, Brad Delp and Aynsley Dunbar. It,s a song from the Best Revenge movie score Emerson did, great singing and drumming of course.
ОтветитьDon't forget his work with the Jeff beck Group. (Saw them at Torquay Town Hall...around the time of "Hi Ho Silver Lining".)
ОтветитьDear Mr. Gelso
You're doing a great job!
I can see and hear you're also a fine drummer yourself!
Maybe some John Robinson? He also played on an amazing amount of albums from famous bands!
And some Simon Phillips perhaps, my all-time favourite drummer?
Keep up your great work!
✌️🤠💥🌟🌀🙏
Cheers, Rolf/*\✓
The best drummer, hands down. Steve Perry killed the real Journey.
ОтветитьYes he's a beast!
ОтветитьYou sound great Guy!
ОтветитьAnsley's best work was when he played Paiste
ОтветитьGreat video!
ОтветитьNice work
ОтветитьWrong! Steve Pery fired him.
ОтветитьWaka Jawaka....gtreat post. The poster is an excellent drummer ✌️
ОтветитьI can't overstate how awesome your videos are. I'm a huge drum/drummer history nerd.
Ответитьnice video thanks
ОтветитьThis is a really cool video. I've always loved Aynsley's playing, but learned some new things about him here.
Ответитьthanks for that great info as i'm trying to learn more about him as a player.....
ОтветитьThe man is a legend!
ОтветитьThanks for doing this video mate. Aynsley doesn't get the recognition he deserves 1987 is my favourite drumming album of all time.
ОтветитьI enjoyed Aynsley Dunbars playing on Journeys Infinity Album (1 of my faves) & Jefferson Starships Freedom at Point Zero LP!
I didn’t know he played with UFO.
Thanks, you really has style down, Aynsley should be a required course in all music colleges, etc. My personal feeling us yeah, we need drum lessons but that's just K-4, drummers really need to study drummers and especially Aynsley, I think that's why todays rock is so bland, they went to college, they play perfectly, but there's no soul, no groove and no life in what they do.
ОтветитьI thought that he got fired by Journey. Regardless, he obviously didn't agree with the commercial direction that Journey was taking. It was time for him to go in a different direction.
ОтветитьWhitesnake 1987 has incredible drumming on it.
ОтветитьAnsley is my favorite drummer! Power in everything he plays.
ОтветитьI would have thrown Steve Perry out of the band and kept Aynsley Dunbar, one of the best drummers ever!!!!!
ОтветитьIn terms of recording with different artists I think that only Cozy Powell, Jeff Porcaro and Vinnie Colaiuta come close. Nice video ❤
ОтветитьTalk let's see Mr Dumbar
ОтветитьGot to see him with Pat Travers in the '90s. Tiny club in Dallas. He was amazing.
ОтветитьFirst came to my attention on Bowie's PIN UPS ..Great ..
ОтветитьThese are fantastic little musical bios. Thanks, Guy.
ОтветитьHis stuff with Zappa was exquisite
ОтветитьThe original Jeff Beck Group was mentioned but when the list of bands/groups was listed one was left off, Jeff Beck Group. Hmm? Dunbar played on that debut album 'Truth', on '"Tallyman" and "Rock My Plimsoul" were listed. But I remember an interview Jeff Beck gave crediting of "Blues Deluxe" to Ansley Dunbar(GREAT BLUES PIANO by Nickey Hopkins, so much missed taken to soon) And Dunbar did the early touring days before Mickey Waller came in. That original group of Beck, Dunbar, Stewart and Wood also recorded as Donovan's studio backing band on 'Barabajagal' LP. But so did a few other drummers Mickey Waller, Jim Gordon, Tony Newman and a couple others. Also noted musicians on that album Nicky Hopkins on keyboards (another Jeff Beck alumni) John Paul Jones on bass and a few noted singers Maggie Bell, Lesley Duncan and Suzi Quarto. Ansley Dunbar just a phenomenal drummer, got to see him twice once with Journey and the other time with the Starship. Understandable Dunbar left Journey when Steve Perry came in changing that original harder sounding band. When you have a guitarist like Neil Schon, keyboardist/lead vocalist Greg Rolie both from Santana what a great sounding band. But things change and the new line-up made history making albums and tours. But again that original Journey band was a hard rockin' jazz fusion band. 🥁👍
Ответить.....the Grand Wazoo is AD at his most brilliant.......
ОтветитьDunbar has also done sessions with Bill Laswell
ОтветитьThanks for the great videos Guy! You ever thought of doing one on Michael Shrieve during his Santana days?
ОтветитьHe sounded like 2 drummers.
ОтветитьBig Zappa fan here, his playing on the two albums, excellent.
ОтветитьStranger-Jefferson Starship
