I can't even run the sim at that resolution with a i7-4790K, what's the recommended CPU for running this sim adequately ?

The simulation is calculated by the CPU, right?

I am having issues with rendering this with Arnold. It doesn't look like snow at all. just some particles of clumsy Balls.

very good and clear Tutorial - thanks! I have one question though: When working with a different scene scale in c4d (for example mm instead of meters). Which parameters in X-particles do I have to change to get the same result?
