I’ve noticed that people forget an important detail on the helmet, on those ear things the sides have a brighter “Y” shape or whatever it’s called. Is you look closely to a lot of images of the show you’ll see it.

That came out amazing, the reflection and texture especially! I'm planning on using this process on 3-D printed pieces, what tips would you all reccomend with application and prepping the 3-D prints?

After I painted my helmet chrome it looked pretty good but I clear coated it with a 2k max pretty thick. And it was shiny but it gave the whole helmet a candy paint look and it no longer looked like metal is the because the thickness of my coat or simply the clear coat I used or maybe something else?

What kind of compressor and airbrush are you using to apply the chrome?

I have used Alclad Chrome for years while building Gundam Models. And I've found that there are very little top coats you can use on their chrome, where it won't either eat straight through it, or make dull. Which is why I decided to use something different on my Mando Helm.

Can you share any additional information regarding the acrylic sheet you used for the visor? Do I need to look for anything particular regarding the ability to see through the visor? Is it just a standard black acrylic sheet? Not sure if I'm asking the question in the correct way. Any additional info you can provide so I can source the right item is helpful. Thanks!

Brilliant! almost finished printing my armor. I live in Canada so I have the same problems with paint. Looking forward to air brushing. This project was so much bigger then I thought.

what was the point on spending the money on the 2k paint when you can get good results for way cheaper? genuine question, i'm a noobie when it comes to this

I used that exact same lacquer. I didnt get half a good a shine as you did. Still happy with it though.

I love this helmet chris made. Its the most authentic replica of mandos helmet ive seen in the entire internet. The paint job is phenomenal and he he even thought about the authentic cut out of the visor which does NOT go the entire helmet down. Would love to see him building the entire bescar armor from mando

Loved the video...until you left out a key step. It's a shame you chose to use the technique that you didnt include in the tutorial.
1. Prime.
2. Gloss.
3. Metallic paint.
4. ????
5. End product of a tutorial we can no longer use beyond the hidden veil.

What do you gain by vocally choosing to omit this info? I'm sad this frustrated me, I wish you the best of luck. You make your own choices and that's great, knowledge share is a huge staple to the maker and/or cosplay community, so I'm puzzled by this choice.

might i suggest useing bakeing acetate plastic sheets and car windwo tint or tamiya clear colours for the visors on all helmets; the plastic can be cut with scissors and no heat gun needed to shape it

Did you sand the primer coat smooth before spraying your black base coat?

Will you have to thin the chrome for the air brush?

Is it just me or does the helmet have two zits on the dome on one side and another on the other side?
Was this a paint bubble or plastic?

Lousy clear job. Tutorial was great until he ruined it with the clear. Rattle cans are almost impossible to control. You need a spray gun and wet coats.
