He looks nothing like Gollum. I think they got the wrong guy personally.

He did an amazing job, of course as Gollum. But I've never heard Serkis say how Gollum, is obviously based on the cute character Gurgi from the animated film : 'THE BLACK CAULDRON' (1985), as wonderfully voiced by actor John Byner. If u see a clip of Gurgi u see how it's definitely the voice of Gollum.
