Ford didn’t build the gt40…… we need to remember this. They bought a good design from a company that specialised in such things and then paid the same designers to make it better fit for purpose. Le Mans 66 was Lola vs Ferrari. These days this is normal, but back then it was particularly distasteful! Somehow Ford thought that having enough money to buy a credible racing car would convince everyone that they were capable of building the same. It worked. But some people think that this is bullshit. Others think less of Ford BECAUSE of how they bought the car win.

The fellow on the screen is showing modern oversensities. There was a tragedy at the race but trying to second guess what happened years ago is typical of millennials believing they know how the world should be run. On a somewhat smaller scale von Trips crash at Monza did not end the race. Unfortunately racing always was and always will be a dangerous sport... those who take part and those who attend are aware of the risks. If you want to see some crazy risks - watch the international rallies where spectators line the course. As with much of today's generation there is a lack of ability to push through in spite of obstacles and tragedies

There are actually breaks… The drivers are in teams and nobody does the entire race without a break. The CARS don’t get a break. Sorry, had to say it

The idea that 80 people were slaughtered and the race continued shows the horrible nature in man. This is not an anomaly, many races have continued after death and mayhem on the track.

Lots of history in here but the start of the video should have been thawed out. You don’t drive it over 200 mph for 24 hours straight with no breaks. You change drivers every three or four hours, you are rarely at 200 mph for more than a few seconds And you do get breaks in the form of driver changes and yellow flags.

I watched this video in the middle of watching this year's Le Mans in pieces (2.5 hours to go as of the time of writing) and it's been an absolute banger. It's always a little iffy hyping a race so much, but this one delivered like nothing I've seen in 11 years of watching the sport.
