So, they are worthless bullshit. It's a lie. A hurdle they make you jump through. 90% of job hires are nepotism. For jobs that matter anyway. This video is ten years old. That's ancient. We are looking at a continious worker shortage in excess of 500k workers, with continious oncreases of the nect ten years. You want a job? Show up. That's about it.

What's the point of listing on job boards if employers primarily offer jobs through networking, as this seems highly inefficient for both parties.

This is so hard to achieve especially if you are an undergraduate, with no to little work experience.

I had an aesthetically pleasing resume template, which I really loved. Unfortunately I wasn’t getting any interviews with it... I decided to give this template a shot and I scored on an internship position at fucking McKinsey!!!!!! Bro wtf

Keywords are important .. include as many keywords as possible relevant to your background and position you are seeking.

Think about this - what keywords is the recruiter likely to search for if they are staffing for your intended position? Then put those keywords or combination of keywords into your resume, preferably at the top. ... . .

I'm finishing up writing a cover letter and a resume for a position I'm applying for, I have a question. Since the cover letter is the letter that the employer sees before flipping the page to my resume, do I have to include my contact information on both the cover letter and the resume? Meaning at the top of my cover letter the contact, email and address is listed and then the exact same format and contact information is on the resume at the top as the cover letter as well? Should I only include my contact, email and address on the cover letter and not on the resume portion or do I need this same information on both documents? Seems redundant... :S

Employers that don't recognize outside the box thinking in a resume may be running a failing business. What this means to me is that it maybe wise to think outside the box when writing a resume.

As an employer who does NOT hire solely from a resume I agree with the 7 second assessment.  I want to quickly see that the candidate pays attention to detail (consistent format, no grammatical errors).  I am also looking for average length of employment.  The BULK of the information used to make my hiring decisions come while reviewing emailed content (is the candidate personable, intelligent and well written), interacting with the candidate during the in person interview (are they on time, dressed for success, knowledgeable about my company and able to answer questions - well spoken).

Here is my issue with "quantifying results and accomplishments", everyone does not have the experience in sales or management to have numbers. Plenty of sample resumes include that. That isn't good. However, being the creative person that I am, I may do a blog strictly for those of us who have no experience in sales and management.

Since you have roughly seven seconds to make a positive impression on employers with your resume, it’s important you perfect it. This video offers great tips, thanks for sharing! Your resume is a professional representation of you -- aside from perfecting your formatting, take the time to double-check for spelling and grammatical errors, too. Also, always show your resume to those who you know will give their honest, unbiased opinion. It is better to have your resume critiqued by a peer than a potential employer. -Ali

Now most all the job applications are performed thru the computer. There is no personal contact anymore. 80% more or less of a persons attitude is physical. Eye contact, the way a person shakes your hand, and so forth. That's how I could always get a job in less than 3 days after being laid off from two other jobs or searching for a better one. Now that everything you now see a person thru is numbers or letters or who you know. That is how an app. is usually pulled out of thousands of apps.

It's an employers market. I've this format of a resume, but I'm 53 and I've been jobless for 1 1/2 months. I was terminated after 7 years with a fortune 500 company (HD) with top pay and several awards. D.O.L. gave me my unemployment that week because of the reason they put on the separation notice. I want a Job now, but my funds are very low. I was replaced by 2 1/2 part timers with no experience. How should I take all of my wisdom and knowledge and put it into a resume according to the job
