mushoku tensai was it's self made by plagerising light novels that author read, this is why the only good aspect of tensai tends to be content that can be backtraced to the original series. beyond that the series is trash with bad writing and sonichu levels of cringe no one with a shreed of quality would ever want to plagerize that garbage.

If you want to make a own model look up "LoRA" its way faster and can be done in a day of work. Prepare your art and write the details in files next to it bam your own fine tuned model that makes your art style. also from lineart to image you need "ControlNet" its a buch of models that prepares the input image from linearts (and more) so the big model has guide lines to draw e.g. place characters in poses.
I use it to make my own 3D modeled objects into anime style or give it a nice blueprint look that would take ages to make in Cinema4D.

Sounds more like the AI, is just taking stuff that is already out their in the internet. And trying to rearrange. Which isn't really a AI but more of a sucky algorithm stealing other people's work.

They should get sued!

To be fair, I don't mind the Activists getting fired, but would be better if they would just hire talent!

Ehhh these are very tropey poses. You really see this a lot in ai art generally, it picks up on trendy pose styles. I could level these accusations of copying against the anime, these really aren't unique at all. The fans who are offended should probably accept their sacred cow isn't terribly original.

Korean manhwas and webtoons are more into "surfing the same wave", i.e. following the moest trendy themes and aesthetics pointed by market sales, than carbon copying something. Whoever reads Korean manhwas regularly knows how one artist after the other use the same base ideas - transmigration, "isekai" into another world or a videogame, reincarnation - and redresses them, sometimes with talent, sometimes just following the tastes sells numbers revealed. Same goes with light novels.

In the USA you can only copy-write characters.

Art styles, ink styles, and organization styles are not.

So tracing with modifications is legal. (As long as it’s transformative)

But yea I can see why people are concerned, but AI is only going to speed up the process of designing and getting finishing details done.

In Manga I think AI is a life saver; between the author of Berserk, and even the guy who was drawing Gundam Thunderbolt literally destroyed his wrists in trying to make deadlines.

If AI can lighten their load by 1/3-1/2, I am all for it.

AI isn't intelligent at all, it's just pulling stuff from the Internet to create plagiarized stuff, that doesn't require any real intelligence. This is why I don't fear AI AT ALL even though everyone seems to be acting like it's going to be the end of the world lately.

You can practically smell the sour grapes on the breath of the anti-AI crowed when they talk. All the negative things they claim are being caused by AI are things humans have to tell it to do in order for it to happen. I've been using it as a tool to create an animated indie sci-fi series and I can attest that it's so tricky to use and get the results you want that it's next to impossible to 'accidentally' plagiarize anything. Getting a usable result takes hours of trial and error from training to generation, even when you're working img2img, and even after that some Photoshop polish is required. All the arguments about theft I hear are made in bad faith from people who don't have the first clue of what they're actually talking about. It's so tiresome.

Yup, this is just the first of many of these types of allegations.
Think about it… AI will only output whatever you used to train the AI model, its a remix at best an amalgamation of the pics/ videos it was trained with.

Let’s take this example let’s say this person trained this AI with pictures from a particular cartoon series, it will definitely 100% look like that cartoon!
That’s what it’s designed to do!!

Of course, without any specific copyright laws for AI this isn’t illegal.
It will just get you in some very hot water with the fans lol

AI can't plagiarize images because the model doesn't contain any images. It essentially contains ingredients and recipes. The prompt is the list of ingredients you want in your final result, and the model figures out a recipe to create a tasty dish with your list of ingredients, based on recipes that typically use similar ingredients. If you get an AI to create an image that looks similar to an existing image, that doesn't mean it has ever "seen" that exact image, or really any image by the same artist, it just means it has seen images with similar styles, elements and compositions (and those images might have been photos), and with a specific prompt, it arrives at a similar result. That appears to be the case here. While there are some Mushoku Tensei images in the LAION 5b dataset, the specific images in question are not. The dataset is searchable, so feel free to check for yourself.

Ya, i don't feel like ai will ever reach the point that it could actual fully replace human writing or art. In fact i would argue that outside of being a tool. Its limited by language in itself. As how exactly do you describe something you want? You have a picture in your head that you want to describe to Ai. The ai can only interpate that and make an image or story based off it. But this may not even look like what you wanted. As the picture in your head isn't the same as the one in the AIs.

Hell even ai argue that it couldn't actual replace human. As really the ai is just taking preexisting images and ideas and using that as a foundation for its basis. It is incapable of actual imagining things on its own. As algorithm isn't the same thing as actual imagination. As really all it is doing is looking up something on goggle and making an image off a search terms. Without pre existing images the ai wouldn't actual even understand what you are asking it.

Like say, ask an ai to make an image of a lion. IT would look up a pre existing image of a lion and make something. But if that image dose not exist. IT dose not know what a lion is. so it would fail. The ai relies on outside information to make anything. As it cannot actual understand what you are trying to describe. As ai only knows what it is programed into it. And well no ai has everything in existence, every concept, every idea, embedded in it.

This is why if you ask an ai to make you a spider man comic. It could in theory make you something. But if you ask an ai to make something new. It will just make some random bullshit up as it doe not have the capability of months and months of pre planning, examination, self retrospect and time to work on it. As if an ai took that long to make something. What would be the point?

I wonder if peoppe actually realize how much effort and trial and error is involved in generating AI art? If you think it's quick and easy, go ahead try it for yourself, you'll lean real damn quick that AI art is really really bad and bizzarly malformed 99.99999% of the time and that when it does look somewhat good, it's a very rare exception.

And when that happens, it takes a looot of finetuning to get it to be anything remotely to what you want. And then you will never get there, because every new generatiin will not get you that hairdo that you wanted, without fucking up the face or the hands, or in any of the other thousands of weird thing AI does. AI can't draw art. It guesses pixels with a general idea of order of pixels, it doesn't actually know what anything is, it can only compare. "Does this look like what the humans tell me a hand is? I hope so"

So, all those who think AI is quick and easy art theft? LOL you have noooooo clue what you're talking about. Really. Go and try for yourself.

Sadly its likely gonna be another case of "Self-check outs" or "Online Shopping"

The convenience, pricings, speed, and quality...
No matter how much people push for responsible use of this powerful tool (which could considerably ease the strain and workload of story/manga artists that are being put through harsh deadlines and conditions,
By Companies wanting to put out content at unhealthy speeds like factory made products...)

Companies will likely use it to cut countless jobs, expect more work from the people they do keep, and for less pay
All to max out their profits by cutting as much "unessary" spending as possible, cause they not only have less people to have to pay for labor, but the benefits, and worker's protections along with it...
