Roma people in Romania appears in specific groups, the groups are initially based on their occupation, nowadays some of these occupations are not practice anymore, because nobody needs the goods : roma people that play music - lautari , in romanian language, from the word "lauta" , an musical instrument like the violin; roma people that works with iron- caldarari, from the word caldare - that means a big iron boiler, and so on; this family you visited seems more integrated in the romanian society, they were assimilated by the romanian group; there are groups of roma people that still keep the old "rules", habits, and so on, more traditional, and conservative, the "caldarari" group, they have their unique clothes, very coloful, and similar with the original indian clothes, they speak their roma language, and so on.

Thank you so much for this vid. My family are Irish travellers and Romanichal and for a while i've been tryna find more research and videos on romani people from all around the world. East europe has always been an interesting one so thank you so much for doing this ! The only other interesting place I can think of with a big roma population would be Brazil which I've heard is really unique.

Love from India to my Roma brothers and sisters. Circumstances would have forced your forefathers to leave your home country behind due to very brutal Islamic invasions, but Indians will always feel the connect to you because of our common ancestery. India is standing up again after the 1000 years of invasions and the attempt to completely wipe off its culture. Now, it is rebuilding itself from whatever is left and I assure you, u will be proud to claim that you once belonged to this great nation. I also hope the Indian government, becomes a voice for our historically persecuted Roma family and recognize them as long lost Indians.

I would like to add, that our history books are doing a great disservice to Indians. It feels as if their authors (lefties) does not want India to decolonize completely. Why else isn't the extent of the brutal invasions and the historical injustices are not taught to us in school books. If we don't know how bad we were treated, we will have the painful history repeated again someday be some other invader. We can handle the truth.

Gypsies of Europe moved from northern Rajasthan, eastern Haryana and south eastern region of Punjab . Their migration occurred over at least 2 centuries . Hats off to Linguists who have found the missing link between gypsies and Indian through language and vernacular vocabulary

I'm Japanese 🇯🇵 married to Bangladeshi 🇧🇩 and have 3 mixed kids. I don't believe my origin is of Roma, but my husband and my kids possibly are of Roma.
I was told not to talk to Romas because they are beggars and goes after your money. But after watching your videos, I no longer feel prejudice against them.
There are similarities between Roma culture and Bangladeshi culture (it was once a part of India🇮🇳). Also, my husband (partly Malay) looks a lot like Romas as well as my kids.
Again, thank you for the very informative video ❤

That is not true! Sinti are coming from India (Hindus, Indus), fleeing from Moslem-Mongol-Invadors! Roma are coming from ancient Egypt, fleeing from Arabic Moslem invaders! The Egyptians called themselves "Romed" and belonged to the East-Roman Empire. They fled towards Constantinople and to the Balkan, also into Europe. Sinti and Roma belong to the group of foreign homeless travellers in Europe. Sinti have a bit little darker skin.

Roma people are not from India. But the Gypsies are.
Roma people were the remnants of a deluge from Indian Ocean.
They arrived in Turkey or ancient Anatolia some 11,700 years ago.
Initially arriving in boats they settled down in many places in and around Turkey.
They were the birthers/ancestors of Kingdom of Rome, the birth of civilization in the Caucasus and the current Ashkenazi Jews.
There were also the forefathers of most of the north Indians, the so called "Indi-Aryans".
There were so many back and forth migration from Anatolia and India between 2,200 to 800 years ago.
These people genes were the admixture of the Neanderthals genes in the caucuses.
They were the founding fathers of Europe.
Please search and find and read about "Cheddar man" of England and "Ötzi the iceman" from Switzerland.

As an Indian person from Trinidad, I don't think that they like living in the past. I think, they just don't trust the system which promises to help them adapt. And there are valid reasons why they would think like this as well.

They have left India 1000s of years ago! now whats the point of reminding them about their roots as they themselves do not have any idea about their roots and no feelings inside them about the roots.... Best thing anyone can do for them is try to improve their social status wherever they are now... They need to clear their bad image that's built... They look like us and are Indians ofcourse but in same foreign countries many many Indians also live too and they are in bigger positions with good social status... Just try to understand the difference...

I have read long ago that these people went out of Bharat during the period of Samudragupt (aka Ashokaditya) {wrongly attributed to Chandragupta Maurya} when he expanded his empire towards the west after the retreat of defeated Greek forces.
These Romanis were also invited as cultural ambassadors to Egypt, Greece, etc.
