Baldur's Gate 3 - Why You Should NEVER Speak to Isobel at Last Light

Actually you should change the classes of your companions to make it easier. I think Karlach is more suitable as paladin then barbarian. Together with SH, Karlach and Minthara it becomes way too easy. Also just destroy all eyes and then meet Z'rell ask her to show her powers to kill ogre. Leaving her to be alone in her room which makes it easy to kill. Also you can kill zealots one by one to make sure they are no summons either

Few Points the Fight is pretty easy ... not even a risk, if your having issues saving isobel Cast Sanctuary on her whenever you can ... Also with her blessing you never need a lantern ... just cast light on all party members (or any other light source) her blessing and a light source allows you to go anywhere without the need for a lantern

Funnily enough, Isobel and Dame came into my camp after the fight... the only thing is after Dame gave her post-Ketheric speech she kinda failed a death saving throw. So when I saw them, Isobel was talking about Dame "needing rest" while I was staring deadpan at her corpse. lmao

Not gonna lie, the fight with Marcus was hellish for me. I had only gotten up until early Act 2 before I decided to try the game on Tactician and restarted- so the fight blindsided me and I had almost no spells for the fight because I thought "hey, this is a safe place with the ward around it - surely I won't be ganked for collecting a reward"... but yeah, I managed to prevent Marcus from taking Isobel and I am soooooo glad I didn't let it happen because having to fight her during the Ketheric fight would've been hellish even more-so (I reset for about 2 hours trying to get the No Free Lunches achievement so I wouldn't have to later; I could've done it on a lower difficulty but I was stubborn to say the least).

Marcus died in 1 turn. He is incredibly easy and his minions are even easier. This video is entirely pointless apart from different dialogue here and there.

Huh oh well I killed everything and no one died so I got all these anyways.

I fumbled the encounter and Marcus took her, I thought that was cannon, but seeing everyone die at the inn, I knew that was a bad choice, so all I did was PUT SANCTUARY ON ISOBEL, it literally changed a tricky fight into a medium one

All you have to do is use force weapon drop with wyll or shadowheart. And use either a spell or a scroll to protect her with a shield and she won't get knocked out.

Blood of Lythander + keep all your party w/ isobelle. You can kill most of the horrors t1 and move onto mop-up in t2. Only time I've lost isobelle was when I stayed silent when Marcus confronted us (assumed evil), I killed Isobelle cause the urge wanted me to (chaotic evil), or I sent 2 party members to protect the tieflings downstairs (incompetence).

This is an accurate video but significantly biased to the worst case scenario. Just save before the fight and defend Isobel. Other comments here have good advice on how to.

Sorry but the Marcus fight is actually super easy when you see it coming I exclusively do solo tactician runs these days and I never have a problem with the fight

Having shadowheart near her makes it super easy

You can just follow Marcus after he vouches for you when you first enter the last light then when he stops and talks to you hold person and kill him.

Really interesting to see this video and all the comments - my partner and I are currently doing a first time playthrough on Tactician (just now at act 3) and am only now just realising the full consequences of what happened with us. Basically, Isobel went down in the fight so quickly that we assumed it was basically an intended part of the story especially as we had just been told to speak to her, so we never even really thought of reloading it. We just took the next fight and indeed I think probably missed the chance to resolve Karlach's storyline as well as fix the shadow curse - didn't realise how important some of the NPCs at Last Light are apparently :D

We also never discovered a way to save Isobel as the next time we encountered her was as an enemy in the final Thorm fight - possibly we could have killed Thorm but let her live and she would have turned back to us? Not sure, I ended up killing her first and taking her lovely moonrobe for my mage, woops.

You gotta be really bad if they are able to take out isobel during this quest. big skill issue

Seeing q bjnch of people say "its easy to protect everyone when you know" I DIDN'T. It definitely is skill issue because it was easy to beat the hell out of marcus, and the winged horros didn't get far.

Granted, this full "save everyone" was after i did a du b action and didnt have a sooner save so I had to redo the whole battle, but the first time i only lost one teifling. Maybe i was overleveled? Maybe just good at tactical? Idk, but it was easy. Also rewards are better from what I read in the comment section. Good job baiting a comment section to comment so you get more views.

If you convince Markus you’re helping him you can warn her and kill him.

I mean you can just talk her normally. Then smoke Marcus who shows up to kidnap her immediately. She literally gives you the moon lantern straight after. So not sure why you think you wouldn't get it. Then open the lantern to free the pixie for the permanent superior buff and be done with it. Free Aylin as normal and she helps you with the boss fights. Same results. No reason to avoid her at all.

skill issue

In my Dark Urge playtrough even tough I killed Isobel after I killed Marcus and the rest of the undead, I got a scene where a winged horror carries her outside. Bug maybe?

I triggered the fight on accident, and I'm not gonna lie, I almost reloaded my save before I even started combat because I felt the Tieings had already been through enough.

My Lae'zel was a great weapon fighter battle master and she put dude down in the opening round of combat. Karlach, my Paladin, and my Eldritch Knight hiringling made short work of the remaining enemies. None of them even got a chance to swing on Isobel.

I hope I made the right choice...

I saved her, though I must say the fight felt extremely unjust because Isobel tried to escape from gargoyles multiple times and got hit by something like... 3 opportunity attacks.

???? the fight was easy. the people in the inn wont die in one hit anyways. plenty of time to mop up. content creators be like forge guardian EZPZ, inn abduction fight HARD. lmao

Why did no one died during this on my playthrough?

Speaking of Moonrise Towers... I went to the prison and found a pile of bodies..... I had failed and loading a save to go back several hours was unthinkable. I looked up what I would have had to do to avoid this but it was too late by so many playtime hours. Damn... Worth a video if you haven't made it yet.

Bruh I did this fight at level 8 and it was easy. There’s no way if you set your party up correctly why you can’t defend her AND keep everyone alive. I moved station behind him and just snuck attack him every chance I could and kept using hold person or command on him. The other mobs I kept karlach on the first floor who tanked literally everyone.

I never spoke with her so, she didnt get attacked in first game. On my second game as durtge i killed her

.........it wasn't a hard fight.....It was over in 2 rounds.

I was fortunate in the fight at the inn, all the winged horrors either missed or just hard ganked Isabel, lucky enough shadowheart is the goat had her set up for massive heals so Isabel was safe despite being the only person getting attacked

I wasn't aware that it was actually possible for the cleric to be captured. The strike-force that shows up to nab her was pathetic. The fight lasted maybe 3 rounds.

I don't get it I was playing on Tactician and first time I saw this guy I beat the snot out of him 0 effort. Isobel were not even close to dying.

Were the full cutscenes really necessary?

I never went to last light in and went straight to moonrise towers, only met Isobel after Ketheric died

Just cast Warding Bond on Isobel before talking to her and defending her is trivial

if you have the right rolls up to the isobel dialogue she will give you the blessing AND the lantern but u will have to fight the ambush immediately afterwards
