Which tool is more capable, the Kingbolen K10 or the Launch CRP 919 and which would you recommend?

Love your channel and your reviews. I'm a serious DIY guy having maintained many of my family's cars (8+ and growing) for the past 10 years with 40 years of wrenching experience. I'm budget conscious. I've been seriously considering picking up an AUTEL scanner - either a MaxiCom 808Z bt or perhaps the ts variant with TPMS. I question whether I'd get the benefit for the extra $$ for the TPMS function. I'm slightly put off by the need to upgrade software every couple of years for a couple hundred $$. Are there other tools I should consider that are more DIY friendly and less commercial. I own several Chrysler products and work on a number of VW products (have a VCDS license). I do like the thought of being able to do IMMO (other than the VW's which are another beast).

Looking for a scanner than also works with light duty diesels. I have a 2010 cummins and my old scanner does not play along with turbo actuator calibration or dpf or injector check. Anyone have an opinion on these style and cheaper scanners.

I bought the Thinktool Pros for my VW . I do like it, but they dont give many details when they give you an update. Just my observations. I keep my Vag-Com in back pocket. 425k miles and going. Currently working on scoping my 225 hp E-tec outboard 2 strokenengine. Thanks for all you videos. I wil be up when I do a camand lifter replacement. Car runs like a Swiss clock.

I'm looking to purchase the mk808s-ts but I'm having a really hard time finding out how it's bidirectional functions stand up to other, more capable tools. I love that it's BT and does TPMS but I have seen scan tools that claim to be bidirectional and were more of a lube tech level scanner. Can you please do a video of your new MK808s-ts when it comes in that can showcase it's BD functions list compared to a full BD tool? Thank you!!!

Launch X431 PRO 5 Best bang for the buck

Can you swap ECUs with the Kingbolen K10 scanner? I do not mean ECU programming. I mean that if you need to bring a used ECU from the junk yard and install it on the car being fixed, can the K10 write the vehicle VIN on the used replacement ECU in addition to matching it with the IMMO?

Unless I'm mistaken , the crp919 is not actually from the x431 family,, despite being constantly advertised as being so on Amazon. It dosent support the x431 TSGUN tpms wand to clone and copy tpms sensors. The entry into the x431 family is the x 431 pro s elite....

I was lied to when I order it off eBay and CS assured me an update was coming so now the return window is closed. I want a fully functional scanner, which one do you recommend as I only need to for my truck and an 18 Silverado gaser

All the Chinese brands use LAUNCH SW so why not buy Launch. The TOPOLOGY is nice to look at but it also has its faults but I would rather have it regardless, Cheers.

Just found your channel from your appearance on SMA. This video was a tremendous help although I missed the Prime sales.
Do you know the difference between the Autel MaxiCOM MK808S-TS that you like so much and the Autel MaxiCOM MK808BT PRO ? Comparing features between the two on Amazon seems like the 808BT Pro is more capable than the 808S yet the other is quite a few dollars cheaper.

And do you have any experience, knowledge or opinions of the Hantek 1088 ?

The Thinktool ProS doesn't support any special features on my 2001 F250, or my 2020 Mazda CX-5.
For me it's been a $800 paperweight.

I purchased a launch crp919ebt like the one in the video and can't get the ckps relearn on GM cars to work. Emailed launch USA and they said the scanner is not their product and that it's not made to work on North American vehicles.
Also will not complete a pressure bleed on a Ford hybrid.

Ivan I own the launch X431 mini which to is an excellent scanner except for the screen size.I think I’m going for the newer launch elite for the larger screen. You have any recommendations ? I personally at this time if I need IMMO usage I’d go for the Autel 608. Any input appreciated. Thanks for sharing. Artie. 👍

Bought the Launch one X431. opened it... it didn't even do the Alternator load % ... nothing charging system related. Poorly made... nothing like your old ThinkTool! Mine was put pack in the box and shipped back! No thanks. Found an Autel that does Charge system load etc and most everything the Launch did. for $179. Not $400.

PLEASE, I want to change the dash, ie cluster, in my Audi A6 2004 due to burnt blinker indicator led and of course the VIN mismatch on junkyard dash turns on the immo.
WHAT'S the best approach?
local shops won't work with customer supplied dash.
I'd rather spend the money on a scanner and learn.

All this info is already in the damn vehicle and they all have capable displays these days so why are these scanners even necessary?

Ivan , as a semi retired shop owner but still doing side work, I currently am using a modis that has been ok but it’s time to update and not looking to put any money on the snap on truck for a scanner.
In your opinion what unit would you buy ?

The kingbolen K8 and K10 are super nice and very capable scanners. The only problem is that they are currently not FCA SGW capable without a 12+8 cable, which I'm sure is going to be temporary and short-lived, and will eventually be added back to their software. The 2nd problem is that it's not CAN FD capable without purchasing an additional $100 adapter. They are really great scanners for sure, but at those price points they should at least be can fd capable without purchasing a separate adapter.
