Technique-wise, net game really isn't where he shines. Coming up too much isn't the smartest things to do. But maybe he has other considerations thus he decided so. His net game has improved significantly towards the late years in his career, but still just average to be fair

Nadal just isn't in match fitness or form as well as now being too old. He's always needed a run of matches to get into form and hasn't had that for a couple of years. I'm glad he's recognised it's time. Sad to see him struggle against players who couldn't have touched him when in form

Hace veinte años vi un partido de Nadal contra Guillermo Coria de Argentina, entonces Nadal parecía un tenista salido de un laboratorio deportivo, una fuerza y un físico de otro nivel hasta parecía invencible, por el contrario Coria le sacó puntos con un juego basado en talento e inteligencia , quizás con más físico le hubiese ganado. Hoy con inmensa alegría veo a NADAL retirarse enfrentando a un rival de Países Bajos que le jugó con inteligencia ante los arrestos de NADAL. Debiste retirarte Nadal cuando era el momento , no exponerte a un final tan poco brillante. Veinte años después te ví jugar y perder en tu último set y juego. Suerte.

Feliz de que Botic le haya propinado una derrota en su retiro al vejete de las obsesiones y pretextos interminables, se creia eterno, pero ya daba pena, se vá con la cola entre las patas, derrotas y más derrotas en sus , también, eternos retiros, su necedad lo dejo ciego y nunca entendió el cambio generacional. Lo peor, es que nunca pudo alcanzar a Novak, eso si le va a pesar toda la vida.

I actually won 40$ on Stake on Botic with this game but I was not happy at all actually 🥲 There was something sad about seeing such a great player like Nadal looking leggy, slow, and even losing his hair, I grew up watching this legend and I can only wish him the best in retirement. Nadal I will never forget what you did for Tennis, rest up GOAT ❤

I think they shouldn't have selected Rafa for the first singles match. They should have given him a "big celebration match" in the doubles with Carlos. That would have been a much more brilliant and moving goodbye.

While incredible athlete no doubt, I don't quite understand human beings obsession with stars and celebrities. Yes, he made great contribution to the game of tennis, which as a game in no way contributes in any major way to solving real world problems. It's pretty much entertainment for most, and hence waste of time. He made millions upon millions thanks to fans and sponsors and will have incredible future in front of him for the rest of his life, and he's only 38. For most people, it's more advisable to focus on themselves and their endeavors.

Age is age. Look at the recent Tyson fight!
