The person who wrote SOP is from Pakistan 🇵🇰, South Asia ❤
ОтветитьThe best thing to do is go to a place where you can reflect upon yourself quickly. That place is the shower, so I just brought my phone and opened up notes. I typed my first draft in one shower with how fast my thoughts spilled haha.
ОтветитьWhat about if I have good grades but no work experience I’ve seen many video on personal statement and all of them have experience shadowing a doctor or working in a ward . What can I write if I don’t got any of this
ОтветитьIt took me way too long to see that supererogatory is super+erogatory.
ОтветитьDid you go from india or you are uk born indian?
ОтветитьTurns out this guy also solved who murdered kitty Genovese. its lOM not a competition of pompous grandiosity.
ОтветитьIn medicine I see a purposeful and versatile vocation, yet what I love most is its fusion of a scientific core with a philanthropic heart.
Last year, y work experience at Dow University Hospital in Karachi was one of the most interesting yet exhausting experiences of my life and although it was both emotionally and physical draining, it installed in me a resolute desire to study and practice medicine.
Here, I was inspired by the altruistic concern of specialists who offered supererogatory reduced rate evening appointments for those in financial difficulty.
This left me to qualify in Basic Life Support and volunteer both at the Martlet’s Hospice and in a geriatric ward, where I feed patients, whist keeping them company. Although engaging with terminal ill and inform patients has shown me the reality of medicine, I feel that doctors hold a great privilege in supporting them and their families at such a difficult time.
Throughout my placements I have been able to empathise with patients and speak with doctors, developing my understanding of the importance of the holistic care that the multidisciplinary team provides.
At the Royal Sussex County Hospital, I witnessed a knee replacement and was captivated by the surgical precision in fixing the prosthesis. In addition, the surgeon’s patience when teaching trainees stressed the vital role of doctors as teachers; I decided to develop these skills by providing ICT lessons for the elderly.
I feel that the skills for communicating with a limited vocabulary are akin to the skills for explaining complex concepts, something I have learned through my study of AS Spanish this year.
At a GP practice I noticed how clear communication between primary and secondary care through detailed referral letters allows effective ongoing care. Moreover, I helped comfort children in a dedicated immunisation clinic, which impressed upon me the orle of a doctor to care for the whole community, not just the individual.
In Mukherjee’s “The Emperor of All Maladies”, the perseverance of individuals such as Sydney Farber in the development of the cure for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia inspired me to write an essay on the subject that won the school science essay prize.
I found this particularly interested as I analysed primary research papers for the first time.
Additionally, Mukherjee highlighted how randomized controlled trials underpin evidence-based medicine; for this reason, I took the initiative to study Further Maths in my spare time, covering statistical model crucial for medical research. I also took the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge and was ranked first nationally; I thoroughly enjoyed the residential camp where I learned more about pharmacology.
Furthermore, I regularly read the NEJM for articles on ethics and topical issues, leading me to organise debates under my elected role as Debating Secretary, which have developed my ability to take prudent decisions under pressure.
I therefore helped to resurrect the College Debating Society and have led my team to the Oxford Union School’s Debating National Finals. Outside my academic life, I find that music and tennis help me relax and I have been able to balance my preparation for a piano diploma and Gold Fuke of Edinburg with my pastoral role as a school prefect, allowing me to develop my prioritisation skills. Through my work experience I have realized that medicine can be a challenging job, demanding sacrifices; nevertheless, once given the opportunity, I know I have the motivation and capacity to succeed in this rewarding and intellectually fulfilling vocation.
The essay was inspiring, and your analysis is quite helpful.
I am in the process of developing my personal statement and getting thought-blocks in the way until I found your channel.

Hello! I want to thank you Shaene for your amazing free personal statement guide. I followed it and made it my own and I am happy to say I got into NEOMA Business School. Thank you so much for contributing in such a significant way to my journey.
ОтветитьI’ve never seen someone spell practice wrong until now
ОтветитьI recommend this video to all who do not know where to start with their personal statement. Take the idea of the structure of the essay and make it your own. Goodluck to app students and God bless

ОтветитьHere's the brutal truth: whilst these ideas might be fairly helpful, there's lots of people who waltz into these 'prestigious' institutions via dubious routes. It's a rigged game.
ОтветитьProblem is I don't have work experience as a nurse??????????? This essay is great because he has work experience which is really great to expand on but not realistic for an 18 year old applying to a nursing uni course.

ОтветитьI’m not gonna lie when I heard his intro I drooled a little. Whenever I see really good writing it makes me so happy and inspired! Thank you!
ОтветитьHaving an amazing array of experiences is a big part of what makes this personal statement so good
ОтветитьThe best way to learn something is learning it on your own don't waste your money and time on meaningless classes especially in the uk since you are actually on your own in the uk while you are student but paying some unfair amount of money that you don't know why you paid for.
ОтветитьThe first paragraph appears as what other sources describe as "flowery language", there are so many conflictions as this is a subjectively judged document, I'm still confused as to what is wanted and how I may be judged..
