OnePlus Open Review One Year Later

My pixel 9 pro fold has that bump in the middle of screen like that

I've been eyeing foldables for a long time but I always saw compromises for such a price. OnePlus Open is the only one that doesn't compromise on any front. Yes the software is a little unpolished but that's just really a minor issue compared to the competition at the time.

That bump and that opening sound is 100% cause for alarm! My Google pixel fold had a similar bump on the very top and then it turned into a dead pixel then a white line and then eventually the whole screen broke on the inside. I've had my Google pixel phone for one year and 3 months before the inner screen died. What it seems to be is wear and tear of one of the hinges that are protruding too far up and will eventually break the screen. Unfortunately it sounds like that phone is on its last legs.
Also most camera issues are related to applications themselves switching out your camera application can do wonders sometimes Wonders

After a year the inside screen got damaged, and I got a replacement in 5 days 😇❤️. It started with the same bump, and I pressed it 💩dead pixel! Haha

After iPhone 13 pro max, razor 2024, iPhone 16 pro max, I always go back to OnePlus open.

Once they can nail dex implementation...it becomes by far the best

I still have mine, great device. The only thing i miss from my z fold 4 is the dex mode!

The bump and the sound you hear when closing are dirt particles stuck in the hinge , problem with folds very tiny particles in your pocket would get a way into the hinge

Is it possible to use screen protectors for the inside portion? I guess the two pieces would need a small gap between them?

Just pray that you never have to send your OnePlus Open in for repair. Mine developed hairline cracks in the folding screen so I contacted OnePlus repair and service on August 21st. I was sent an email that I would receive a follow up email with shipping label and instructions soon. A MONTH later I reached out to OnePlus again as I had not received the shipping label and was told that the email was not sent but I would have it in a day or so. Once I received the shipping label I sent the phone to Acer (OnePlus' repair facility) in Temple, TX. After a month I reached out to OnePlus again on the status on my phone repair and was told it would be repaired the next week. The next week I received an email stating that the phone had been repaired and would be shipped soon and I would receive another email when it had been shipped. Seven days later I called OnePlus AGAIM as I haven't received my phone or another email and was told that my phone could not be repaired and that they would ship me a new one and they would start the process today. So I've been without my phone for 5 weeks and will be six weeks when I receive the replacement. Hopefully, it will be a new phone and not a refurb.

My experience is that I love OnePlus phones but will seriously consider whether I ever want to purchase another based on my repair experience. If I hadn't had a spare OnePlus 9 Pro I don't know what I would have done being without a phone for 6 weeks.

I had sold mine when i got my 9 fold pro but i miss it. Been thinking about picking it up again until the one comes out

Gonna try switching over to their next foldable they release, love my Z fold 4 but this seems to blow them out of the water in almost every aspect.

As much as I like my 9 Pro Fold, I sometimes wish I got this instead.

That brizzling sound is glue what you hearing.
Maybe due to heat the glue became warm and
got loosen a bit and you may have dropped phone.
To get that crease bump don't let water catch on it..

Looking forward to getting the OP open 2 but still hesitant of foldable's durability.

yesterday i also noticed a little bump in almost the same spot at you have there, a little bit more to the center. Today the right side of the display failed. There is a big white line that goes from where the bump is to the end of the display. Its maybe 4mm thick or something. Huge bummer! I really hope they have improved the durability of the display on the open 2. If they havent, that is a huge concern

OnePlus really made a comeback. Only because they were bought out by Realme/Vivo/oppo.

That sound crackling is coming from screen prtector, i ve also have that sound on z flip and its getting louder when you have those protector starting to loose

Doesn't that phone come with the screen protector installed on the front? Did you get the scratch?Because you took it off before you put a new one on? I waited for version two.That didn't come and i'm not interested in going in for importing the opo, so I repurchased, the oneplus open and i'm looking forward to using it again.

Make it a necklace and you're good to go.
