This series was fantastic. Daisy was brilliant and left little doubt that she is one of the best up and coming actresses out there. She was also outstanding in Crawdads.

She's too attractive. She should be more homely. An attractive guy going after a homely girl just because he could take advantage of her. That's what I got from the novel.

Marianne's face when she admits to never having been kissed was so lovely. What is hard to take is Connells "don't tell anybody at school". The shows' differentiator is the feeling that you are watching real people, but I find it hard to believe that Connell wouldn't have instantly fallen in love with her right there and then and would have faced down the bullies at school. He was certainly physically capable of that.

Amongst so many scenes that were so beautiful, Mariannes face as she walked through the corridor to greet Connell who had arrived to tell her about inviting Rachel to the Debs the day after telling her "he really loved her " absolutely creased me. I was shouting at the TV at that point!!

During all episodes, I thought Connell is in the spectrum so his communication skills are not the best.. Marianne deserved better! She deserved someone who shows their love and affection and communicate better!

It was so hard along the way Marianne to hold Connel to anything as she had agreed to secrecy from the start. I think she was disadvantaged from the start. Not because she made a poor decision but rather all her life she had never felt valued. Nonetheless the series ended with a win for all of them...of course with a huge price from each.

Choice is powerful for both sides. People affect each other's lives, we're just too busy thinking of our own and not wondering enough how it affects the other person too.

this arrangement by Connell of not telling anyone was doomed from the get go and once I saw that I framed my entire assessment of Connell's approach towards marianne that way. He not stopping his friends from literally abusing her, defending her at the party & all the time having sex, how'd she feel. Clearly marianne being the outcast everywhere was more vulnerable being loved from anyone and so probably her mind was clear from the beginning about him. Connell's ways kept her in doubts and then ofcourse the lack of communication. I think it's pretty obvious one should after a point know very clearly about the projectile the other person intends in a relation to be at peace.

This is not a love story. I don’t know why people keep saying that. It is about a girl with low self esteem and a horrible family who various men take advantage of, starting with Connell. The fact that he agrees to be her “boyfriend” at the end of the novel does not “redeem” Marianne, even if she herself calls it that. It is a highly interesting novel and book because it shows the depth of her pain and the characters are palpably real. But please let’s not be like Marianne and call this a love story when it clearly is not.

I watched this show with my gf lately and now she’s dead and I can’t sleep or stop crying and thinking about her just i imagine that was dream and she’s alive you know when you only have that one person that’s cares about you and now nobody does, first I lost my friend and now she , it’s a lot for me to handle

I really felt like the two characters actually and genuinely were into each other in real life, it felt that real to me. Absolutely amazing acting from the both of them, I can see how realistic a lot of it was. When we are young and still learning we just don’t communicate properly, we give mixed signals and waste time thinking if we really told that person what we really thought and felt they’d laugh or judge us. How simple would life be if we all just said exactly how we felt

"No one would have to know." Her desparateness to be with him even if it means selling herself short. It's so sad and relatable. We've all been there. That human need to be loved/wanted in return will sometimes make us agree to just about anything.

I don't know anything about this show. This is the only scene I have watched. The guy seems like a tool. She's beautiful, but anxious and confused.

Great chemistry and acting skills.
The plot is annoying and self loathing at times.
The level of smoking for characters who are academics is so dated.

Am I the only one who finds it problematic that this series romanticises a young woman loving a man who is ashamed to be seen with her?

So my primary reaction is just very simply the upfront thing to say here is these memories stretch back like 25 years ago but this series I should watch the whole thing but this is a bit of a first impression so don't hold me to anything but I've puzzled together that connnel doesn't want the other students to be aware they are together but I guess I'm left puzzled by something.

See in my youth when I was about 12 or so I was already starting tohave some highly romantic sentiments but the whole trouble was just the community I came out like..here's what happened.

I became a very different person at the break of puberty than I was before it my sentiments matured I started to feel the kinds of mature emotions meant for people like much much older than i actually was became a lot more how shall we say like conscientious... and considerate to how my actions might effect those around me but had earned a reputation that was the polar opposite of what I had become inyears previously and instant transformations are always doubted and ignored and not even recognized. having the reputation of a pest well..

Had a woman had a crush on me it would have been best the kids in school not know about it. Not because I wouldn't want to REVEL in having achieved this even openly and be proud of it.

... more I was being picked on and women were more likely to pick on me as well in order to build rapport with more popular boys even if they didn't mean a word of it they'd still pick on me in front others because that's how you bashed your way into the clique I grew up surrounded by.

what this means is in effect no one should know but I'm not humiliated by it I'm afraid and concerned if someone does this the people who are obsessed with hurting me and failing to do so will come after her and is she even strong enough to withstand what I've grown accustomed to and completely apathetic to?

I've got a thicker skin now, does she? Because it would have been my responsibility at least to some extent to protect her, and yeah. They went after my friends as well. it was fucked. See I'm left wondering if Collin is more concerned with how this might effect her reputation or he's concerned about his own? with me It's the former....

Daisy did such an amazing job in this show, she does amazing in her other projects but she really shined in this. Looking forward to seeing her in the banner of heaven and where the crawdads sing!!
