majestic, haunting and sorrowful sound.

For me this piece elicits a physiological response of the nervous system, at once both terrifying and stimulating, sublime and earthly, mysterious and intimate. I feel like I am observing, auditorily, the mind and body processing Life. I don’t know if that makes sense - but in any case I find myself coming back to experience it several times a year. My deep gratitude to the late Maestro Tennstedt for his extraordinary interpretation of this work of genius. He hits the target square.

I like lots of different music, and have done for many years; but I am obsessed with this piece. I am not joking but a tear leapt from my right eye when it reached it's crescendo. I cannot imagine how anyone could create something so musically powerful and deep without being able to record and listen back as we musicians do now with our digital devices. From listening to other pieces by Wagner I have recognised his musical footprint and development and I suppose this was a culmination of his natural genius and the musical growth he experienced through his commitment to his field and the bench marks previously set.

My Grandfather just passed away yesterday. He was a pilot who served his country during the Cold War and Suez Crisis a true war hero and this masterpiece is befitting of such a valiant and brilliant man. RIP Grandad.

Great version of magical piece of music. So many people, including myself think of the movie "Excalibur" when hearing it. The movie was magic and it used magical music to help tell it's story.
