It wasn't so powerful. It was just so expensive and nothing worked. An electric rail gun, failed or was so expensive. It was unrealistic. And not much to show for it. That said, we're asking an awful lot of the Navy is having trouble getting people to join, being a costed by rapid technological change so fast. It's almost impossible to keep up, etc. I actually feel for them.

Putting a 4.4 billion dollar destroyer out there for some 50 thousand dollar aircrafts to target just seems silly. WWII has shown that when enough squads of bombers attack repeatedly, they will eventually overwhelm any ships defenses. This ships cool but its also an ineffective budget buster and way over hyped.

It was a boondoggle. It could not leave port without it's accompanying rescue tugs. It made admirals in the Pentagon very rich from kickbacks which was it's sole purpose of being built.

so im guessing the cose ire supprt as intended for SOCOM. why cant a small ultra accurate 10mile cannon be installed for close support? 2 cannons wont suppport a whole brigade so this was intended to be on the horizon or closer. put 2 damn howitzers on the thing and call it day.
