Melee Has Changed.

There's another neat thing that I noticed myself in my years of playing PAL. In the NTSC versions of the game, you only have the option for Japanese characters and uppercase English characters in the name select menu, however in the PAL release, you've got uppercase and lowercase English characters, with no Japanese characters. And other thing: the home-run contests distance is measured in metres instead of feet. Obviously both of these changes were made to accomodate for the cultural differences between the two regions, but it's still a neat piece of trivia.

I think its kind of stupid that the reason we use the less balanced version is because of mob rule. Would be interesting to see a year where every major is played with the PAL version.

I do not even play Melee I stopped trying to play other fighting games yet I find especially these videos in extension of witnessing moments of Melee scene fascinating.
This game is something way beyond Street Fighter 2 turbo or 3rd strike scene.

Why did the competitive scene of Melee choose 1.02? Because the whole cult around that game is centered around the janky programming. Hence why all those people refuse to move on to Wii U or Ultimate.
