This was truly excellent, but for a moment, I dare to suggest a completely radical solution, which had been tried before and "failed": Secession. I'm not the only one who's thinking along these lines, but for the moment, it appears that the word sends shivers up most Americans' backs. As I see it, it's a choice between Fascism, as we just heard, and losing American dominance in the world for the real promise of democracy, civil rights, and hapiness for those who abhore Fascism. Yes, it would look like the schism of the Civil War (more or less North vs. South), but the two or three countries that would be formed could, at a minimum live side by side with each other. Now is the time to consider Seccession seriously, because a new civil war is on our horizon, so we can at least talk. No one is suggesting that Secession will be easy, quick, and comfortable, but if 700,000 died in the First Civil War, you might easily multiply it by 2 or 3 in the one to come. I know, it's frightening to think about it, but is it easier to think of a complete loss of American liberal & Democratic ideasl?
