So I recently watched this channel is a 12 year old kid singing covers. He posts a cover like every other week. Is he able to do it because of the grey area? It's not just like small songs either, but some songs from bigger artists too like multiple from Ed Sheeran, Olivia Rodrigo, Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, etc.

I just enjoy uploading covers, I don’t want credit, money, nothing. I just do it for fun, and ALL of my shit gets copyrighted, and my account is facing threat of deletion.

It doesn't seem very easy. I wish I could make a cover of a Lana del Ray song, where I sing and play piano for fun and because I appreciate her music. I'm just an amateur who wants to practice. I do not intend to profit from anything. This doesn't seem very easy. Haven't all artists practiced on other's music somehow? But I don't want to get a strike. I don't think most artists would be against people singing a song of theirs and give credit for the original, but their team would most likely want the largest part of the cake they can get and take it to court at all costs.

What if a song I make has a completely different beat and I use 1 line of 4 different songs how would I release this would it be my own then and just credit them ?

Reactors have a really hard time with this issue. I love watching reactors, and I have witnessed many reactors becoming disillusioned and demotivated because of the claims.
But we are then losing out as watchers, and the artists lose potential frowth in numbers from people who would only hear their content due to reactions.

It was a bit ridiculous that I got a copyright claim flag on me doing a piano cover of Evanescence My Immortal, just me playing my interpretation of the song nothing else, but which I uploaded to YT, AS PRIVATE. I never uploaded the cover to the public, it is private, but got flagged. Not strike or removed. It is not, and has never been available to the public, so it would have been shocking if yt had clapped me with a copyright strike.

Also yesterday I saw a video where a Bass Guitarist got copyright struck on a video where he was doing purely a Bass Guitar cover of Eagles (Yes, THEM), Hotel California.
It is a BASS GUITAR.
It is baffling, doesn't make sense! 🤯
The problem for people who actually go and share their content to the public, is that it is absolutely inconsistent. And potentially losing your channel because of that, would be a farce and a travesty of justice.

Once a copyright claim is put on a video, what happens if I just delete that video?

I didnt even monetize any video and just singing covers alll of sudden a copyright strike i dont intend to make money off cover songs the point is to gather subscribers and when you have enough you can sing your own original songs this new system is just stupid i say

What if it's a rewrite? As in, a cover song I reworked into my own style? The words would be mostly the same. Lyrical edits could very well be involved along the way as well.

I was thinking of doing a 30 riffs in 30 days series for this year where I quickly talk for about 30 seconds about what the artist or song meant to me, share a memory about the track, etc then play a demo'ed out version of the main riff that I'd make on my own. Max 3 minute bite-sized videos... but looks like that's a terrible idea based on this video ... what if I get copyright claimed three times under 90 days and my channel gets deleted....

Most people don’t care about claims, strikes, blocks & bans. But what they’re worried is being sued & taken to court which can cost them time & money.

Good attempt however doesn't really explain to the point even to the end. Not a good use of ones time to listen to this.

Labels and opportunistic music bussines lawyers are the xxxxxxxx of the creativity. We are living in total spiritual and intellectual revolution. New era is about to begin, everyone has right to squeeze out of their head&heart the stuff that media has put there.

Imagine: someone stabs knife with a copyrighted poem in it, in to your heart. When you pull it out, copyright lawyer comes and tells:”You have to pay, you are using our intellectual property!”

Law has to change:

”If it’s been in top 100 list, it has become public domain.”

If I play a drumcover, write in the video that this song is "blabla" written by "artist-A" and Even if I write in the info that I have no problems that the Artists, claims the copyright so they could generate the money from my video, can I even at that point, get indicted?

When it is a classical music like Tchaikovsky , Schubert Mozart and I sing into them is it a copyright?

If I make you tube videos I just don’t use any copy right material at all.

It’s stupid because someone might not even like the style of music but it was originally and that’s definitely my whole family’s case including myself even though I went more back-and-forth on being more less tolerant and I would also suggest country artist to do hard rock songs because that’s the kind of songs that I enjoy listening to from them My mom likes this song can I have this dance from high school musical because it has a cute message just like watching you does but she just hates country music so she hates that song but she would like it if it were a pop song

Songs are relevant For long periods of time so I don’t know why people care about copyright so much
