Roland MC-101 - How To Install ZEN-Core Sound Packs from Roland Cloud

If only it worked like this for me.

When I try to load a pack from the SD card it says “No License [OK]” with [OK] being the only selectable option.

I’ve formatted the card numerous times. I’ve register my hardware with my Roland account.

I’ve not only purchased the packs for my MC-101 but I have a mid tier subscription to the cloud services as well.

What’s the fix here?

I've followed these instructions to the letter but when I navigate to SOUND FILE, I just get No Item displayed on the screen...

I followed this to the letter....I bought an mc-101 FW 1.81 which came with 4 free production pack downloads, I tried to load FuturePop from the SD card and the MC-101 tells me there is no item in the ROLAND/SOUND folder. A bit wierd, anyway, with the new sound manipulation set-up on the 101 I can create my own sounds on the hardware, which is a relief as I think some of the Zencore sounds on the 101 sound too thin and lacking. I am very disappointed with the Cello and String sounds in particular.

When im trying to load a pack it says format error.what should i do?

Note to viewers: it is not necessary to take the SD Card out of the 101. You can start the device in 'Storage Mode' by holding the PROJECT button when device is switched on and system loads. The computer connected to the 101 will show the SD Card as a drive.

This Roland Cloud Manager is really pissing me off. I run Windows 10. Sometimes it will open, sometimes it won't. I can see it running in the background in task manager. Sometimes it will open if I run as administrator. Sometimes it won't.

Okay, so I get it up and running and click to download sound packs. I have no earthly idea wear these sound packs are being downloaded to. The first time I downloaded sound packs, it asked me where I want to download them to. They were showing up in that folder for a while and then just stopped. I've searched throughout my c drive looking for them. Can't find them. Does anyone know where these files are being downloaded to?

i have a message "format error" when I want to add sdz file on my new mc101. Any idea ? SD card is formatted. Folder SOUND ok and sdz download from Roland Cloud. I juste copy past sdz file.

This is an outdated way to do it. When you have zenology and your SD card already in when you download it, it puts it right on the card for you.

I'm able to download and use anything in the "both" category for the MC-101/707 in the cloud manager, but there's another category for MC-101/107 called "software" which when I click the install button, it says ACTIVATING, then the status switches to INSTALLED, but nothing actually happens, they don't actually download or install anywhere. What are these files?

What does install license mean? Does it cost extra $ for the license?

how can you sort your sound from the expansions? Is there a librarian?

So how much does this cost? (Including hidden fees and restrictions for not spending enough to unlock all features)

Purchased some ZEN soundpacks, downloaded and installed the .sdz file on SD card. MC-101 Display says «License Error». Any ideas?

Hi, does the MC101 have a free PC based editor? If so, I think you have a sale. I'd like to make my presets on the computer, and have them on the go.

Are those sounds are saved into my mc101 memory?

It is a great box, and I purchased 8 sound packs, but please, next update give us full editing of tones on the MC-101 itself, we already have full fx editing so why not for tones too. It won’t affect MC-707 sales (in fact it might have the opposite effect) and saving and naming of tones and kits, then 707 + 101 can be a great combo, 101 as a portable, then hit the studio and sync up with the 707, 12 tracks 🙌🏼 Chop/slice on 101 would be great too.
Also one final thing on the 101 & 707 the 60 seconds for total loop time isn’t enough, even if we could use loops without timestretch (just use the samples at project tempo) with some of the available 12 minutes sample time (yeah we can do it with a drum kit, but not quite the same)
Anyway, it seems that Roland have created the best MCs yet, they sound great and have some nice features with the last few updates, I think these could be future classics, great machines.

What they are not explaining is that even if you have a Roland Cloud membership (any level), you still have to buy a lifetime key so that you can download the sound pack to your hardware, this is explained in the membership section of Roland Cloud Manager.:

" * Sound Packs, Wave Expansions, and Model Expansions included within membership can only be used with ZENOLOGY. To use Sound Packs, Wave Expansions, and Model Expansions with compatible hardware, please purchase the corresponding Lifetime Key. "

Although sound packs for the MC-101/707 are cheap at $0.99 each, it seems a bit odd when we are already paying for the membership and have purchased the hardware. I appreciate it's probably a licencing thing, but it doesn't make the Zencore sound sharing experience as seamless as I'd hoped.

Ok, that mc101 boots up and loads projects substantially faster than mine. Even just booting it up and loading a blank project takes at least 30-40 seconds and there's nothing on my sd card on firmware 1.50. I'm really curious what black magic I have to do to get these crazy good load speeds!

How do we use the drum kits included in the packs? From what I gather, the mc101 can only open these as tone tracks, but the packs come with drum kits too.
