Mafia II Definitive Edition vs Original | Direct Comparison

Quick Correction:
-Empire Bay* not City
-you can see eyelashes on some characters, but its incredibly subtle
-Vito SCA-letta - not SCAR-letta. Been saying it wrong for years, never even noticed.

When you run or fight ur clothes seemed to "move" a lot more realistically in the OG than in the remastered edition. I love all the Mafia games and just now played through all 3 for the second time and while I love the graphics the remastered version of 2 is very glitchy.

A review I read of the original also mentioned cloth bugs such as those in DE, but I personally didn't encounter them on the 2 PCs I played it on.

mine is lagging as hell. i only got like 16fps. my specs are, biostar am320 motherboard, ryzen 3 2200g, single stick 8 gig ddr4, ssd 120gig, hdd 1tera. i already got my drivers updated . help

I don't see any major changes, so I choose original mafia 2 version.

So the definitive addition is just a few strands of hair here. Some eyelashes there. More emotion in 1 scene. Blinking. lighting and shadows are a bit better. Oh and the DLCs

But like nothing actually knew like a free roam mode or extended cutscenes. Why buy this over the original?

Mafia 2 classic is still better overall, also u cant compere old xbox 360, ps3, pc version Vs Ps5, Xbox version and modern Pc version...

Ps3 & Xbox 360 = Was already future gaming(Perfect consoles)...Classic version take only on Steam and Ps3, Xbox 360 = 8gb space...How they achieved that? 🤔

Modern gaming lets just use upscaling software with tons of bugs...

Original one still looks great. To me the new eyeballs look odd and the removal of cloth simulation is disappointing.

It is a good game, but a lazy remaster. If this game got the same love as the first game, then it would have been amazing. I like the experience, however there are so much potential the devs missed.

They massacred my boy. And it upsets me. After the Leo mansion mission and the junkyard collection mission I said F it and didn't finish it. Mafia 1 and 3 are so amazing but 2. Heartbroken.

I enjoyed the comparison to see what the definitive edition changed. I never played the definitive edition because I played the originals of Mafia 2, 3, and GTA Vice City, 3, San Andreas, and 4.

The lighting, shadows and texture upscaling are amazing but Mafia II still looks fairly good to this day, couple that with plenty of mods, Reshade, better sound design, stable framerate, I really see no reason to play the DE over the original on PC, especially since you get the original for free anyways when you buy the collection. Console is a different story since Playstation doesn't have backwards compatibility.

The old version still stands out well, great graphics Both of them versions of an amazing game that I'll always enjoy playing or just cruising around the city.

This game didn't need a remaster they just wasted resources on an unneeded product. It would've been much better to make a remake or some add-ons to the original Mafia 2, the game had so much potential but 2k fucked it all up !

looks like they just ramped up the contrast and remodelled like 3 faces and a few textures, dont think thats worth the 40gb buff, im downloading the og one

I might be the only few who like the remastered it’s really different camera angles,cutscenes feels different even when u kill the fat guy that shot Henry the hat stays off vs the original it was back on his head u can even hear babies cryin if you walking in neighbors if u use headphones n I don’t remember dogs bein on the original it’s been yrs since I played that 1

I never thought I'll dislike this level of graphics. I once thought something like this is the peak of graphics in games but now after playing more recent games, I just find this one horrible. Imagine what a game 10 years from now would look like. P.S Resident evil 4 and Farcry 6 are the recently released game I played so far.

Fact, that uniform he wears in Italy is a Model 1942 or M-42 Paratrooper/Airborne issue, you can tell by the slanted pockets & cargo pockets on the bottoms. Regular Infantry divisions were not issued these. They wore M37 shirt & trousers & M41 Parsons Field Jacket or HBT Fatigues or combos of both.

Самое классное прохождение этой игры Mafia: Definitive edition, сюжет очень классный) В начале игры, напоминало первой и второй части про сюжет этой франшизы, даже когда смотришь в начале тот видеоролик сразу вспоминается те моменты) Возможно, что есть в третьей части мафии, хоть я в её рекдо смотрел прохождение. И, вся трилогия про крестного отца просто легендарные фильмы/франшиза)

OG Mafia II is goated.

I like the facial structure on the character better in the original, but the details are nice. The eyes are really bad though. I hate what they did to Vito’s face when he was being arrested/indicted. I like he’s stoic look better.

i like the remake but i did not like when they take out some original Music from the game.
