The RN needs numbers, which currently is sorely lacking. All platforms need more firepower.
ОтветитьNo he's not a very bright boy
The type 26 is the new asw frigate
The type 31 is the constabulary frigate which is frankly a bit shite.
We aren't even replacing the ships we have on a one to one basis so undergunned look alike figates are shit they type 32 in s just a mirage
All ships require updated, up fire powered, up anti drone capabilities, lots more close in defense weapons.
ОтветитьSeems to me, like a spurious political aspiration to prove that the tories are going big on defence, without any real defined mission sets or capabilities. With regards to increasing the Surface Fleet size and strength, the RN should just build more ASW Type 26 and GP Escort Type 31 Frigates as the RN’s current projected fleet size is woefully inadequate. Any new build investment needs to be prioritised to the Future Type 83 AAW / BMD Destroyer Requirement, the Multi-Role Solid Support Ships and probably most crucially right now the Future Fleet Solid Support and Future Fleet Oiler Requirements.
ОтветитьAh blah blah load of tosh navy 😊😊
ОтветитьUK and Sweden?
ОтветитьIt's political spin from Bojo. He'll only authorise 6 or 7 of them while BSing us that it's a "game changer" just like the type 45 was and they only bought 6. The government is cheap but wants us to think it gives a shit about defence
ОтветитьIn other words you haven’t a clue what it will be!
ОтветитьBritish ship building across the U.K. died decades ago due to both political parties, poor management and combative unions.
ОтветитьThe RN now priorities humanitarian missions, why put guns and missiles on the ships?
ОтветитьThey spend more time planning reviewing cancelling than building, nothing ever really gets built but billions still get spent. Let’s get 30/40 ships in the bloody water. Then develop refit and upgrade.
ОтветитьThey have the t36 to hunt submarines. T45 for air defence which will be replaced by the T83
ОтветитьNo news here . Nothing heard since 2022 . Most likely project cancelled because the UK doesn’t believe in paying for top quality defence . It’s all just lip service
ОтветитьSmoke and mirrors, where's the increase in the navy numbers needed for crew? There's not enough budget and this idea is a dead duck, nothing about it has emerged since it's announcement years ago. Aside from a cheap design these things would be barely armed patrol boats.
ОтветитьThe amazing 2 UK aircraft carriers.. that always sits in the port.
Lol
The new frigate looks nothing like your thumbnail
ОтветитьStill vague-ish but likely intended to be a more top end GPF than T31, with presumably a core sensor + weapons fit AND an additional range of several significant modular mission-specific packages too. So a good idea and effective way to restore the surface fleet to a level nearer to that a sovereign, independent UK would really have needed by adding 5 x T32 + 5 x batch2 T31 + SIGNIFICANT weapons upgrade for the existing 5 x batch2 River Class OPVs. All together with the existing and projected higher end ships (6 x T45 + 8 x T26), that would have given the RN 34 x escort-capable combat units ranging from 14 top-end tier 1 task-optimised core CBG platforms, through 5 x flexible mission-optimisable tier 1 and 10 x tier 2 GPFs, and finishing with 5 x tier2 blue/green water smaller but still escort capable and/or single deployment units.
Of course, now it's an odds-on bet that within the next 5 years we'll see our country being dragged back to become in every important regard a de facto non-sovereign protectorate controlled completely by the loathsome EU central institution, it's irrelevant anyway. The RN will ultimately be incorporated into a pan-EU force controlled by Brussels. At which point I'd honestly prefer to learn the entire fleet had been scuttled!
I'm shocked. Not sure what I'm shocked about..
ОтветитьThe type 32 will go the same way as all its predecessors - inadequately armed due to future spending constraints (I think I counted just one 16 cell VLS on the mock up) and with pitifully few (five hulls?) coming off the slips.
ОтветитьIf you believe any British Government will spend money to build these you are insane.
ОтветитьPut an F35b on the ship in place of an helicopter - why not would be interesting
ОтветитьI don't see how they can be built in the UK
There's only 2 shipyards in the UK capable of building such advanced and complex ships, both on Clydeside, Scotland, and they are at full capacity at the moment
Blojo is involved? ITS A DUD, THEN... 😢
Ответитьall academic, come July 5th all these will be scrapped by Labour gov
ОтветитьShame on the government for bringing the British military down to such a sorry state, and shame on those who proposed this under-gunned programme with only a mere five vessels planned... An embarrassment to be sure and completely disproportionate to how wealthy the United Kingdom of Great Britain still is.
ОтветитьI winder what the price per unit wicked be if built in South Korea compared to UK?
Ответитьyet another multi billion coast guard ship disguised as a warship
ОтветитьFunding has been suspended
ОтветитьMore warships being built in the U.K. for the Royal Navy is always going to be a good thing.🇬🇧
ОтветитьThe recent election - show that the British voters are on a suicidal death cult - do very stupid
ОтветитьNo new information here. And, of course, our new government is not known for its support of the Royal Navy.
ОтветитьType 32 is either A Type 31 "MODIFIED" so that it is built above cost price but some "changes" OR it is One of BoJo the Clown PM Gaffes where Brain is never engaged while mouth is in action. It does appear that it may be a combination of both. Type 83 Destroyer we know Nothing about and Q. Why Type 83 not 85? The enhanced Air Defence type 42 Destroyer became the Type 82 which was cancelled as HMS Bristol was been completed. BoJo Gaffe resulting in a PANIC to come up with a pretend Type 32 that can be later cancelled in order to afford just 5 Type 83 Destroyers?
ОтветитьOverall RN down 74% since cold war ceased
ОтветитьProbably won’t get off the drawing board now that there’s a new government in power.
Ответить40 to 60.000 a year of asylum pirates crossing from France. The British navy and armed forces wont stop them. So wasting money on new boats seems rather pointless.
ОтветитьWhen the original Dune music kicks in……
ОтветитьBut will they stop Rubber Dinghy's.
ОтветитьThe unions will mess up the shipyards. The bean counters will spend the next ten years cutting things off the capabilities list, the Admiralty will change their minds a hundred times about what will power it, what it will be used for, costs will quadruple and times will be stretched into the 2040's. Heard this merry go round of blxnbs many times over the years. Merely a case of here we go again.
ОтветитьSo it's a Ty31 on a budget, which was already a Ty26 on a budget. Good plan! 🤦
