I was born and raised in Karachi Pak and we as a family were great admirers of Bhutto, ZAB, brilliant, intelligent, well educated, well spoken , well mannered, he was the victim of international conspiracy against him but he died didn’t make compromises. RIP Bhutto Sahib. You will forever be missed. No one comes close to him in persona, elegance, charm.

What a bullshit claim thay he primarily responsible for breakup of Pakistan, completely forgetting the army exploitation way before him. And the fact that an army man was in power in 1971

A good topic to speak on. Some more things one can remember Bhutto for: 1) After independence he remained in India until 1950 to attend to his properties in Bombay state, 2) His father Shah Nawaz Bhutto was a Governor in Bombay state before partition. The Municipality building in Nasik bears a plaque which states that the foundation stone was laid by him. 3) Zulfiqar's mother was a Hindu who converted to Islam after marriage to Shah Nawaz, 4) Qadeer Khan, who was once described by India Today as a Nuclear Terrorist, was groomed by Bhutto.4) What booked ZAB was his handwritten note as the PM on a government file about a political opponent which said "Eliminate him". 5) He is the only leader Pakistan has had in the past 75 years who had a vision for his country. 6) Piloo Modi a Parsi a friend of ZAB wrote a biography "Zulfi, my friend" in the 70s.

Any person who is aware of politics and science will mention without any ubiquity that the reality is that the Pakistan nuclear weapons program is the biggest hoax. Pakistan has no genuine source of usable Uranium ore. Pakistan received (confirmed by Dr. Khan a mediocre metallurgist and not a nuclear scientist) highly enriched U-235 from China for a bomb or two. Such a weapon is crude and has only psychological impact on naïve people. India due to the genius of Homi Bhabha has enough purified Plutonium-239 for several thousand warheads. Thus has the capability to field the third largest nuclear arsenal after Russia and the USA.

One more correction. 1965 was a stalemate. Nobody won (at least that's what I studied in school unlike Indian books). Had India won the 1965 war, the Indian army's confidence would have been at an all-time high. Why then in the 1971 war only 5 years later, did India prepare for 9 months despite knowing that Pakistani soldiers were 1000 miles from their military base, and deployed 50 Indian soldiers for every Pakistani soldier in East Pakistan according to General Manekshaw's interview to Karan Thapar? That does NOT sound like confidence. That kind of overkill only hints of post-traumatic stress disorder.

If West Pakistan prospered by exploiting East Pakistan's resources, then Bangladesh should have risen like a phoenix after 1971 and Pakistan should have withered away into oblivion. It was not until 2015 that Bangladesh's economy overtook Pakistan's, forty years after the fall of Dhaka. In the 1990s, Pakistan's economy was ahead of even India, and India's GDP per capita only overtook Pakistan's in 2008. Ironically, both instances happened after democracy triumphed over dictatorship.

This analysis couldnt be anymore biased and misleading, the narrative which blames bhutto for bangladesh fails to reflect upon the atrocities, the rape and pillage pakistani military did in east Pakistan lead by a nothing but rapist criminal dictators like ayub, yahya and zia, whom this analysis shamelessly trying to portray as heroes. It was them and the series of their strategic military failures, it was the 3,000,000 bangalis who lost their lives, it was the 400,000 women who were systematically raped by the pakistani military which lead to the fall of east Pakistan.

Stop glamorizing this corrupt criminal dynasty which competes with India's Nehru dynasty
Zilfiqar Ali Bhutto was hanged for his role in a murder and was judged guilty after a trial which was just by moslem/Islamic standards
His daughter Benazir was equally corrupt and her partner Zardari was known as Mr 10%.And less said about Billa Bitta the better

Thanks Shehkar sahab for your thoughts, Most of it is fair except that 1965 war not a result of Kashmir dispute rather it was to avoid or release the pressure from America on Pakistan to take part in Vietnam war, Pakistan got stuck between rock n a hard place , in the wake of U2 downing in 1960 and latter the rise of hard-line communist like Beerznev to power Pakistani foreign policy makers got baffled, this was in that confusion that the decision to open a limited conflict with India was conceived and implemented, this is in short , you may carry out your own research, will wait to see your deliberations

Shekharji missed another very important legacy of Bhutto -he recognised his mother tongue Sindhi as an official language of Pakistan along with Urdu and the only official language of Sindh and hence the eternal vote bank for the Bhutto family in Sindh .And if ever Pakistan comes out of its fixation with religion and it's linguistic politics become supreme, you will need to thank Zulfiqar for that too.
