This is one of the only games where not all hostile creatures are dangerous, and not all dangerous creatures are hostile.

It would be cool if there was a survival game in which when you venture out and die, you only lose what you didn't take with you. Everything you had on you at the start of the expedition is safe, but anything you found along the way is lost.

in Subnautica, the player is immersed in the game, and the character is immersed in the water.

It's a cool game, but the speculative biology is all over the place :c I wish the small creatures were more than "a fish!!!! but ONE big eye!!!!" and then we don't see similiar features on larger, related creatures, who will have random number of eyes, seemingly :( a lot of the designs follow the creature design principle of "make a chimera and give it a cool name". :'(

Awesome channel. Agree with you when you say that in some games art component articulates player's experience. Hunt Showdown for example, has similar mechanics to Escape from Tarkove, but art direction makes it a unique experience.

I wrote about Subnautica in an expository essay about how games are and are not harmful to kids. I had the idea because I used to watch Jacksepticeyes's episodes from when he started the series. Never played the game but I was fascinated to no end by this game. Every time they updated the game to have a new creature, I needed to see how it looked. It really shows how far a fictional world can go and it keeps us curious. Curious as to what else may be out there.

To humans the ocean is not as vast as space... It's maaaayyybe as mysterious, even that is a stretch. It's a different and alien world, yes, and there is a lot we don't know. But anyone that thinks it's "as vast as space" are either incredibly dumb or a 4 year old.
You can describe the ocean for all its wonder, uncertainty etc no problem without using false statements, if anything, that diminishes it since most people will disagree with what's said and you loose the interest and respect with what you're talking about.

Untill my game fucking glitched out 4 times in a row right as I was about to finish it.

All the shields in the precursors bases closed up again

Game crashed when I was heading to the safe shallows

Got stuck between two rocks and had to leave my prawn
