I have 2200.00 and am wondering if I should get the M1 Studio Max 64 gigs memory and 1 TB SSD or the M2 32 Gigs Memory and 1 TB SSD? Any suggestions please!!! I have to buy it in the next 2 days Thanks!!! I do mainly FCPX editing, Nothing super long or 2 complicated and currently editing on an M1 Airlock 16 ram and pretty good, but lately getting memory usage warnings often... Thanks!!!
ОтветитьIf you are using photoshop, and have a few more things open like Safari, calendar, mail, messages, then I noticed with the M2 Studio Max that it's using around 25 gigs of RAM. So 32 gigs is the minimum, especially if you do photography for a living like me. I thought about the mac mini pro with 16 gig ram, but then ended up with the M2 max studio. Max Mac M2 Studio..but it's not the MAX...the ULTRA is the MAX. Apple has too many designations for these computers. This is their marleting department running around like idiots advocating for different words to be used.
ОтветитьI'm gonna to buy my first ever Mac, mostly working in adobe illustrator and streaming on twitch. Which version do you reccomend? Will 64 GB Ram enough? Or take more?
ОтветитьHey Greg, thanks for the education on the details on this Mac offering! The debate in my camp is: Running purely Logic Pro and Pro Tools, dedicated music production computer, Mac Mini vs Mac Studio: one side is concerned the studio fan is loud. One side is concerned the Mini will obsolete out faster. Im leaning towards the studio M2 Max with 1TB SSD. Care to settle the debate? Thanks for the content!
ОтветитьI wanna know what differences it makes between the M2 MAX 30-core GPU and the 38-core GPU but I can’t find any info of it
ОтветитьGreat vlog, Luke! Could you tell us about the performance difference between 32 gpu cores and 38 gpu cores of m2 Max? Thanks.
ОтветитьAny advice please on spec for general video editing with potential for some 3D work..not sure whether 32 will be enough. Also, 30 or 38 core GPU? Many thanks
Ответитьfast forward that trend micro shit.
ОтветитьStopped viewing after the first 5 minutes of commercials!
ОтветитьI ended up buying the Ultra and no regrets, it is amazing. It cost way less than my PC gaming rig, I don't know why people think the Ultra is expensive.
ОтветитьHi, I just got the M2 Max Mac Studio with 38 core GPU/64GB/2TB and am waiting for my Studio Display to be delivered--SO excitedt! 😃
ОтветитьIn 2010 I was a part of a group of contractors hired to help mitigate a massive virus infection for one of the largest hospital systems in central Ohio. That virus impacted over 30,000 devices. The AV software of choice for this hospital system? Trend Micro. I don't care if Trend Micro ever improved their AV software at all. They will never be on any list of recommended AV software given their abysmal history. How Trend Micro handled it was almost as appalling as how poorly their AV software performed in protecting these computer systems.
ОтветитьGlad I've waited for the 2nd generation Mac Studio, thanks for the great review
ОтветитьI'm not sure if you meant 'base model' as in the Max instead of the Ultra, but otherwise, the 30 -> 38 core upgrade for a couple hundred bucks seems almost a no-brainer. That's over a 25% increase in GPU power for not a lot of extra money. The 512 GB to 1TB SSD upgrade also gains quite a bit of storage performance, though the base is probably fast enough for most anyway.
ОтветитьI just bought this very model, and OMG, this thing is FAST. And I have a 5 camera shoot in 6k BRAW. Not a stutter.
ОтветитьI consider the base to replace my 2019 iMac 5K with i5 and upgraded RX580X with 8GB RAM. There's nothing wrong with the iMac but after switching from 2019 MBP to M1 Air I know how much snappier the M2 will be. Thanks for the review.
ОтветитьI see one potential fatal flaw with its design: how do you clean it?
It's a stationary roomba, how do you extract years of sucked-in dust?
I doubt you have right to repair on this product, for such a simple thing as chronic dust accumulation that simply needs a can of air spray, but there's no way to open it up either at home or a local service store, so you'll have no choice but to mail it back to the manufacturer, only to be advised you should purchase the next model through an exchange discount program.
I see a long-con, am I right?
Would this be good for live streams / OBS?
ОтветитьSeems this is the best overall mac at the moment
ОтветитьGood honest review amidst a million M2 Ultra reviews… just ordered a a modest upgrade to the base spec M2 Max with 38Core GPU / 64GB / 1Tb. Really helpful video for us non video workflow creatives 👍🏼
ОтветитьExcellent video! Just ordered the base model and I’m so excited. Coming out of a 2015 iMac, this is needed improvement for me.
ОтветитьNow that it has a modern HDMI port, I’ll just wait for next years’s model to get this year’s model cheaper lol. Not in any rush
ОтветитьI have a 2009 Mac Pro that still works great. Almost bought the M1 Studio last year, but glad I waited. Looks like this M2 has the potential to outlive me. I’m 71 and got my first Mac, a Plus in 1986. The future is here!
ОтветитьGood video, but I kind of disagree with the point you made that the M2 Mac Studio is better value than the 16 inch MacBook Pro. Sure you get the little additions you mention like slightly better performance, more ports, etc. But for $1k more the MPB adds an amazing 16 inch XDR display (for me this is already worth the 1k difference, since Apple sells the 32 inch Pro Display XDR for $5k), better speakers, a pretty good keyboard, an amazing trackpad, and the ability to work wherever you want without needing to be plugged in. I mean if you bought the mac studio, and a mediocre monitor, speakers, trackpad and keyboard that would already be an extra $500. I'm saying this because I've been using the M1 Pro base model 14 inch MBP since release and I'm amazed how for $2k you get an all included workhorse machine that you can use without needing to buy anything extra and it just works so well and has an amazing display. I really think a lot of people underestimate the display, speakers, trackpad and keyboard on MBPs and that they should be taken into account when considering the value of the product.
ОтветитьI think upgrading the SSD to at least 1TB is a must as it doubles the read/write performance (and 512 GB is ridiculously small anyway).
ОтветитьBase model? More like the based model.
ОтветитьAm I the only one who's bothered by him constantly touching the mirrored logo on the Mac?
ОтветитьWait for the M3.
ОтветитьFrom 85 fps to 102 fps, it’s a +20% jump (not +17%) 😉
ОтветитьI disagree, upgrade the RAM to 64 and the SSD to at least 1TB if you plan to keep the computer for 5 years or more and/or use multiple screens.
Ответитьyes ok, but the ssd on the base model mac studio m2 max are really slow compared to those mounted on the m1 max. Not for me...
ОтветитьMe gusta
Ответитьthank you very much for this "not boring AT ALL review" 😊 please, which configuration would you suggest for logic pro multiple vst and plugin, and little video editing? also, I'm working currently on I mac pro 2019, which monitor would you take? thanks a lot and have a nice summer
ОтветитьWhat's the best way to migrate programs etc?
ОтветитьMac Studio video with Mac mini thumbnail. 🤣
ОтветитьJust ordered it with 64GB of RAM, 1 TB (I have multiple 5 TB external drives), 38 GPU core.. Let's goooo I haven't upgraded my computer since the 2017ish iMac with i7.
ОтветитьGooood
ОтветитьAs these can never be upgraded, "buy the base model" is both foolish AND quite expensive. You can all go along if you wish, but I have decided to quit Apple after 30+ years. I hate Windows, but I hate Apple's rampant greed more.
ОтветитьSuper ❤❤
ОтветитьSorry, bad cell phone- like muffled sound...
ОтветитьI have an Intel 13900k with NVidia RTX4090 for myself. I bought the M2 max studio with 38 GPU core and 1TB of storage for my wife. I just cannot get over how much I like her computer. Powerful enough (more than powerful enough) for gaming and 100% totally quiet. I still like my computer for its power but I am so impressed with this studio and I always look at it walking by her office. I would even say I am a little jealous!
ОтветитьI've had my M1 Mac Studio since April 2022 and never heard the fan. 🤷🏾♂
ОтветитьWe’ve all dreamed of a trash can Mac that works… that’s would be great if they could do it
ОтветитьVery much not a pro computer. Limited IO and expandability. CPU is not socketed, when Apples comes out with the M3 or M4, you cannot upgrade. It is going to be a dongle mess if you try to plug anything into it like an optical drive or expansion card. I'm a software developer, and no way would this work for me. This is a consumer-level cheap box with a crazy powerful SoC. A very odd mismatch.
ОтветитьIt doesn't have to be 5x5K monitors.
Been able to output to 4 projectors plus a monitor from 1 computer is heaven for us projection designers.
Base model with 512 gb is a f*** joke. Should be 1TB for any professional that is the target of the machine, which you can't upgrade later, that's not a Mac mini FFS Apple.
ОтветитьLove the new M2 Mac Studio especially the edu pricing $ 1799
ОтветитьGood video, but too long sponsor add.
ОтветитьYes no fan noise! Great job Apple🎉
