Is Persona 5 Worth it in 2024?

I was soooo happy when this came to steam

I replay a personal game every fall. Typically I bounce between 4 Golden and 5 Royal. This year, I started 3 Portable on the Switch.

Idk why but I LOVE mementos, specially if you have Ryuji at level 7 confidant. One shotting everything feels amazing and then you get to abuse the "level up alarm system", my Arsene has 99 stats at everything and is doing loads of damage.

for playing it for the first time like- 2 month ago, and finished it one week ago (so in 2023) : yes. it is worth it.

I'm working my way through Royal rn after playing through P5 a few years ago. It's still so good. I didn't know Atlus existed before P5 and have since then discovered P4 and Catherine. They're re-releasing P3 and being new to the series, I couldn't be happier 😂 They can take as long as they want for P6 imo.

So should I get the royal version or the normal version?

Ehh... When it comes to modern JRPGs, I like Nier; Automata and Xenoblade Chronicles way more than Persona 5.

Any Persona game is worth playing no matter what year it is. I missed out on them when I was a kid but I got into them a couple years ago and I've finally played my way to Persona 5. Every game is better then the last, more or less. Instant classics

as someone who is new to persona i picked this up like a month ago and i havnt stopped playing it really makes me feel like im in the game

Yeah the soundtrack in person has always been god tier

You could not be more correct by saying that this game is too damn long. I enjoyed my playthrough but now at 90+ hours in I've hit my limit during the Okumura palace with no end in sight.

If i had to summarize id say visual upgrade, personal downgrade. This game easily feels the most like just an jrpg between it, 4, and 3. The confidants are nice but are kinda 2 dimensional. They removed the feature of others entering others confidant rank ups. 3 and 4 have a sense of community, while 5 definitely is more focused on game play

I just got the game for like $38 during the steam summer sale and it was definitely worth it. A jrpg that also has dating and stealth that feel natural and not tacked-on is right up my alley. I just hit the 10 hour mark so I’m glad to know I still have a lot left to play.

After having played Vanilla AND Royal I can definitely say Royal was 100% worth it. Definitely looking forward to more stuff from the Royal team for sure!

Wholeheartedly agree with many of your points in this video. Arguably the greatest flaw in the game is that it has too many dialogue options that doesn't seem to affect the plot at all.

While I understand not everyone has enough time to put aside for such a long game I must say the length of the game does help to make the story a lot more impactful. My main complaint would probably be how the gameplay and story is spread out. I think it would be a lot more enjoyable if it was spread out more evenly instead of hours of story/RPG and then hours of gameplay.
