heh, so we basically enter a domain at logon screen, Teyvat doesn't exist until we enter/load/form it out of chaos, Zhongli is sentient of all this and wanna to use us (a player) as external storage of memories in case we never run game again (enter domain to form our thoughts)?

I believe we're actually in the past. Teyvat has been destroyed, Abyss Twin saw it happen as it happened, and somehow sent the Traveler back in time to make the same journey she did - when Teyvat still existed. Like Zhongli says: we are a witness. We're here so we can know, we can witness the downfall of Teyvat - and in our memory they can exist and live on when we "leave" Teyvat (reach the end of our twin's journey, witness what she witnessed, at which point the domain of Teyvat will end, and we will exit).

Sky is fake = Teyvat is a domain inside the abyss with its own (domain's sky)

This makes a lot of sense, even the sky’s are fake in Teyvat and Traveler has also said that the day’s and night’s are short. Hence, Teyvat is a domain.

If this is true, it'd be really cool, but also I'd HATE time travel and it's associated shenanigans SO MUCH MORE BECAUSE WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?! If time is irrelevant than anything could have happened nearly everywhere and it runs dangerously close to Traveler's current journey becoming the very thing that makes them leave Teyvat AND START THE WHOLE DAMN NARRATIVE I HATE IT. Thanks for the vid. I'm gonna go seethe with rage playing Diablo 4....or something.😮‍💨

This is a really fun video.

The weirdest thing about everyone experiencing time differently in that quest is... when did the disparity take place? No one was weirded out by anyone else talking or moving slowly or quickly. Did the perception shift only happen when not being observed by anyone else? Quantum observation stuff? Like.... was it entirely in how they all perceived their personal timelines? Was no one suspicious when no-one else talked for a week at a time?

Hehe. The name of the Celestial Nails makes a lot more sense if you consider them being what keeps Teyvat a solidified space. Less of domains being the "altered space" and Teyvat being the oddity amidst the goobledigook past the fake skies and stars. This all gets very 'you are living in a simulation' very quickly when reality gets this subjectively defined. Man, I love your videos.

Yes, I agree that time has no meaning. Both the travelers are old. Older than 500 years, because they were heavenly summoned and lived with the Jester prior to the fall of Khaenri’ah. So how many years did they live with the Jester? 30 days? 100 years? 600 years? Time is like an interstate. It flows straight forward, but has exits that you can get off on and spend time in that town (or domain) in the exit. Then after you turn around you must enter the interstate again to continue forward. Time and space-time and memory. Isn’t that the whole of Teyvat? Did the compas just disappear or was it taken by Zhongli or maybe one of the Hexenzirkel witches? In his own quest Zhongli took the goddess of salt’s artifacts and threw them into the ocean with all the other defeated god’s artifacts. This was doneto keep those items from falling into hands that would not understand their use. So many of the characters in Gension impact are much older than they look. Some are immortal and some are not. The gods, goddesses, Demi gods, and mortals who know how to use the elements or magic to sustain their lives or are immortal might even know how to use Irminsul as a tool to help control time and space, like how the Sages controlled Nahida in the Sabzeruz Festival. Perhaps as the traveler is a descender, those who are aware, might use Irminsul and time control to manipulate the traveler’s will and make them go around and around in circles, not realizing they have been in the domain or time and space before. Obviously there is something (besides finding their sibling), the traveler needs to complete and for all we know, they have spent centuries searching for. Maybe saving Teyvat? Who might they save Teyvat from?

Your theories make so much sense! I felt like time was just randomly pieced together with no real lore or thought, but you've explained it so beautifully!
Honestly, I hate things about time travel, time freezing, or 'chaotic spaces'. It's really scary for me lol. I always feel like this exact thing may be happening in our world as well, and that people may randomly be time traveling into the past, or future and altering things in our destinies and lives.
We may be there one moment and the next, poof! We never exist as something got altered in our past!

I know, not related to Genshin at all, but this always scares me a lot. This theory being applied in Genshin scares me even more, and I really don't feel like doing the Perilous Trail quest now lol

I think domains/pocket dimensions exist within the Abyss (or at least, the Underworld), and the Fear Door just deposited the Traveler into the Abyss. Since the Traveler likely most fears what effect the Abyss has had on their twin, rather than create an illusion of the Abyss, the door just took the past of least resistance and plopped them into it. The Traveler, then, was able to find the weak point in the space/time fabric and fall back into the domain.

the ether anchor actually makes 100% sense.

like how the celestial nails is used to stabilize teyvat and how the archons are considered anchors and visions are given to people that MIGHT pose a threat.

now the question is (if you haven't explained it yet on your other vids) is, what's the purpose of teyvat? an experiment of higher beings? are there teyvat 2,34,etc?

Wait a second... if this theory is true, then is it possible that the shadows beneath Cider Lake might've been the ruins of Khaenriah? Most of the shadows we see in-game hosts a hidden location, so is it possible that underneath Mondstadt, the ruins of Khaenriah was somehow beneath it all this time?

I have nothing to support this thought, but it's just cool to think about.

I don't know as much about the lore as many here, but let me deposit my thought here:

What if the twins are the same person? Our twin is like a past version of the one we're chasing. This might help explain why Irminsul has no info on us, but does have info on our future/alternate self...?
Also, what if Teyvat is flat and has a reverse side? What we think to be looking up into the sky is actually staring down into the abyss? The reason so many structures are upside down is because they were buried/sunk into the earth from the other side?

There might be info that I'm missing that would refute this. If so, then that's fine. Just mulling the thought over and checking with others.

I might be reaching, but if the Abyss is a chaotic space-time mess containing all the domains, with each of them having its own set of rules, doesn't that make it kinda similar to the Sea of Quantas? Or at least a portion of it, kinda like the solar system is to the galaxy...

I feel like saying that since the chaotic space below the Nail in the Chasm is a domain and therefore ALL domains are chaotic spaces doesn't follow. Wouldn't it make more sense to say that all of the different subspace realms are domains (the Chasm space, Enkonomiya, teapots, adepti realms, normal domains, event domains), but not all domains are chaotic spaces? After all, the Chasm space is the only domain that we don't enter via a door--we accidentally break into it.

Artifact and weapon ascension domains are about as un-chaotic as you can get--they are so orderly that they can be farmed for resources. The other permanent domains are pretty stable as well, at least for the one time we delve into them.

Maybe the stability of a given domain has to do with its relation to the ley lines? Artifact and weapon ascension domains all have a ley line tree in them, and they are the most stable. Most of the other domains don't have those trees (I can't recall any off the top of my head), but they're also not generally located in areas with significant leyline problems.

And then there's Enkonomiya and the space in the Chasm. Those two places are similar in that they seem to have an unconventional relationship with time, are deep underground, are ancient, and were sealed away.

When you say that the space should distort into a chaotic mess because people rarely agree... I don't think so. The influence of that many people would be subject to the law of large numbers, creating a fairly stable reality. Any object we can interact with in real life is made up of millions of smaller particles acting more or less randomly, but they're granted stability by the large number of them.

I'm also not a fan of time travel mechanics being used in a story, not much of a fan of flashbacks being over used either. That said let me continue:

I once puzzled over the question of what time zone exists at the north pole on our own planet. Fact is it's kind of a Limbo of no time. Given the fact that 1 day and night cycle is our typical year.

Now with that concept as a backdrop we can explore the sameness of Tehvat's day and night cycle where the moon never changes phases. The climate also doesn't seem to change through the various seasons EXCEPT the direction in which the wind flows as noted by Mondstadt's holidays.

Which oddly isn't the first connection between the wind and time in Genshin.
Snap back to the the North pole concept, time does exist in a mechanical sense but it's relationship between different points on Earth its rather relative shaped only by the thoughts and daily cycles of those living there.

This has gotten me thinking,(About Teyvat being a domain) Don't we as the player go into a door everytime we log in? Like, if Teyvat is a domain in itself, that kind of explains the whole bit of "the stars are a lie" quote from some time ago.
