Prime Video FINALLY Has a Stellar Sci-Fi Section!

Definitely some great stuff in here.
I can't get behind Tomorrow War though. They get time travel and do the dumbest possible thing with it.. conscript soldiers from the past instead of going back to beat the aliens to the punch or develop superior tech to defeat them? Not even humanity is that stupid 😅

Coherence was firkin brilliant.

The ghost in the shell TV series are also all absolute bangers as well. Stand alone complex season 1 and 2 helps define the world and tops of with a great 3rd season movie. ARISE is a beautiful prequel. And the netflix CGI Stand alone complex 2045 is not bad at all, it still has a very interesting story. The first season of 2045 has some teething issues with the cgi quality but it was much better in the 2nd season.

Monsters is by far the best Sci Fi movie I've seen in the past 10+ years.

Just watch it. The story is riveting and the effects are perfect.

I've seen some of these on Dust.

The Arrival is one of my fav's from it's first release. I thought it was very well put together. I watched Screamers when it was first released. A Peter Weller favorite of mine. When I watch reviewer checking out the newer War of The Worlds I always tell the to check out that first one. Oh yeah.
I'm going to be checking out this list. I'm always looking for new sci-fi.

It's a shame they took Hunter Prey (2009) off of Prime(you can barely find the blu-ray/DVD also), that is a great low budget Sci-Fi movie.

Wow first time seeing Ghost in the Shell

Hells yeah to Nope! And I agree with you about Everything... excellent flick, but very strange, especially the fight scene with the things with the things (IYKYK) 😄

I like Ghost in the shell and it just kinda ends. I was thinking ok, that’s it 🤷🏻‍♂️. It’s almost like they made a great first half of a movie. 😢

Thank you for the video. As a Sci-Fi fan I realize from your list that "Sci-Fi" is too broad of a label. Would you place "The Tomorrow War" into a Sci-Fi Military category and "Interstellar",not on your list, in a Sci-Fi Space category?

Almost none of these are available on Prime as part of the subscription in the UK. Why is that? Might cancel subscription as this seems to be very often the case.

"Robot and Frank" sounds very similar to a Dust short with an old guy and robot.

the tomorrow war is very underrated

Coherence is in my opinion one of the most underrated movies of the past decade. I urge people to make it through the mildly confusing start because the payoff is 💯 worth it.

Saw Coherence years ago. Its a gem of a SF film/play!

Some good ones I have enjoyed and some I need to check out. But I will say, I cannot recommend Coherence enough. It goes to show you that EXCELLENT storytelling doesn't have to come with huge budgets. On the flip side, Christopher Walken aside, do not feel like Dead Zone aged well at all and thought it should fall much further down the list.

I think the thing most people did not like about the Tomorrow War was the absurdity of arming untrained civilians with guns that couldn't hurt the aliens. Heavy calibre's existed, and it would've been smarter to arm them with guns that fired heavier calibres and could one or two shot an alien rather than emptying whole mags with no effect.

Have you ever included "Uncanny" in your lists. Your lists are pretty comprehensive overall, but I haven't yet seen Uncanny mentioned.

Interesting to note in ‘Split Second’ that the font used for the underground station sign isn’t correct, possibly due to copyright problems (London Transport own the rights to the font).
