Ok so if I had any questions of whether you could ride like you teach, which I didn't, well that has all been answered now.
ОтветитьWow. Amazing. And you make it look easy though I know better
ОтветитьHave you checked the rust on the final drive lately? :-)
ОтветитьI love how smooth the camera is but then the console pops up in the shot randomly to say hello.
ОтветитьA wonderful video with great tips and viewer perspective.
I mus ask though , were you going that fast to keep it interesting or was it to keep moving? In other words was it necessary to maintain that speed to not get stuck?
I ask because the terrain looks lovely and , personally, I would have liked to go slower to soak it in but not if it would cause a crash.
You do mention keeping a good pace to make the guys riding behind you happy , so I suspect that was the reason for going so quickly, but I don't want to assume.
Great video none the less!
I dream of riding as well as you do some day.
Did the Black Bear Enduro there one year. Took 7 hours to cover 100 miles in the pouring rain.
ОтветитьAs a fellow Washintonian, these trails look like fun! Might need to adventure to the peninsula to come and play.
ОтветитьWhoa I got motion sickness watching this. If it was me on the KTM, I would have hit every other tree!
ОтветитьBe nice to find somewhere free and legal to ride in the uk
ОтветитьAwesome adv dirt skills! What's your rear top box and how did you install it Bret? Thanks!
ОтветитьGreat video, poor sound. In such cases, either leave it alone and let us hear the bike or voice over. As it is in this video, I couldn’t hear 50% of what you said.
And you added music towards the end...
I felt like riding through those narrow, rough paths but, a bit edgy !!👍😳
ОтветитьStill amaze how that KTM survived all that water😄
ОтветитьIf you can ride like that on that, I should be able to do that on my cb500x for sure. Need some safe trail I know won't lead to a dead end to roam on and get practicing
ОтветитьCool Viddy! I thought airing down for traction on a big bike was a myth though ; ) haha
ОтветитьCan't imagine my super tenere 1200 heavy ass bike doing a trail like that.... ONLY FRONT BRAKE in that condition too?
ОтветитьLove it. Makes me feel better that even an experienced rider can dump their bike. Just wish I had trails like this to practice on.
ОтветитьMan, I know that trail like the back of my hand. I do prefer it on my 300cc 2T trail bike though. Hah. Thanks for all the great riding skills videos you've done, Bret.
ОтветитьAnother awesome video. Besides the shirts and mug, do you sell stickers?
ОтветитьLove me some bigger (but not huge) bike stuff!
ОтветитьWow, I absolutely enjoyed this video. I’ve watched dozens of Bret's videos but never actually seen him ride, and it was still educational watching his techniques from the helmet cam and rider behind. Never seen him in mx gear or first person, definitely a great rider and great video.
ОтветитьOmg you're an offroad monster? Those puddles scare the shit out of me and you're going so fast! Neat to see
ОтветитьRain, puddles, and still no mud. it's beautiful
ОтветитьDid you come out on that side — or turn around and ride back? I’d be a bit mentally overwhelmed ha.
Ответитьwhy is it so important to drive fast in the woods like its an tournament ??
ОтветитьI come from mountain biking and on those everything is magnified, especially in suspension set up, rebound causes the bike to buck if its too fast but if its too slow it can do the same by causing the suspension to pack up and it doesn't return in time for the next bump so within the first hit your through the travel but then you stay in the travel and by the 3rd or 4th bump your basically bottomed out and riding with no suspension at all causing the bucking problem to happen again, I suggest to dial in the suspension so it tracks the ground and isn't too slow or too fast, just the middle ground for the damping and pre load setting you have set currently, then only moving away from that setting by 1-2 clicks in either direction, your looking for small bump tracing not big hit control cause the suspension you have doesn't have high and low speed settings, find goldylocks and just stick with it, hope that helps
ОтветитьNeat video Bret... WOW.. my Vstrom 650 wouldn't survived that
ОтветитьComing here with your "weightless over the bike" video freshly imprinted on my memory, I'm amazed at how stable the video is. I realize the gopros image stabilization is pretty on point but the weightless techniques you taught in that video are really exemplified here in this one.
ОтветитьI’ve got the timing down on turning off my abs to 8 seconds! 🤣 it’s KTMs penalty for stalling!
ОтветитьThat trail looked a little past an ADV trail. It looked more like an Enduro trail to me. You made it with that bike and had fun just not for a novice or beginner. I thought when you said big ADV bike you meant 1200ish and I seen 790 I was like that's midsize until I seen the trail and figured out you would need skills to get through on an Enduro/Trail bike let alone an ADV bike. Good luck have fun. Be safe!
ОтветитьGeez! That was Sketchy. I sure enjoy that kind of riding from the table with my coffee. But I’m not going there.
ОтветитьLove the on trail tips. It puts together the classroom and practical at once.
ОтветитьWow, at 5'6" that last section would be challenging for me on my Africa Twin. :) But, I try!!
ОтветитьWhat gps are you using?
ОтветитьWelldone, as always Bret. Cheers and enjoy
ОтветитьBrett. Just a quick question. Having an old F650GS that I take off road as much as I can. I find if I fall, it really effects my confidence if the rest of the circuit is the same as when I crashed/landed softly cos of my huge ass :-) is there any tips to overcoming this lack of confidence as it spoils my enjoyment worrying about when it might happen again ?.
ОтветитьThe trail at the end got brutal!
ОтветитьExcellent riding on that 790! and all the while telling us what our doing, good stuff! Is it yours?
I did a test ride on one last year, loved it when riding solo. Made the hooligan come out again, blasting from turn to turn.
But on the second ride with my girl on the back it was out of it's place. To light and small for 2 people.
For me it had to replace my V-strom 1000 so a bigger bike was wanted.
After some searching I bought my self a Guzzi V85TT. More road based but still capable enough for stuff like this.
nice riding in country where deep puddles don't mean deep mud
ОтветитьTrails like that first part are why I own a GS. Good fun on my little vintage 2T enduro bike, but hilarious on the GS. It'd be good to see more onboard & follow-cam footage Bret (if you can find someone who can keep up!).
ОтветитьYou said in several vids that you dont decrease your tire pressure offroad because of possible rim damaging. What is different now? Lighter bike than the ATs and GSsis?
Sorry, just read it. Thanks!
How well do you think a stock 790 S would do on a trail like this? As that’s the one I bought.
ОтветитьI am looking hard at the KTM 790 or 890 Adventure R. My last two adventure bikes have been the BMW R1200 and R1250 GSAs. I primarily use the R1250 for backcountry off road riding/touring/camping. More and more I find I am doing trips solo and thus looking at the KTM 790 or 890 adventure as a more off road capable and light weight option to the GSA. Considering your extensive experience with BMW and KTM, I have a couple of questions:
1. How much easier is it to pick up the KTM vs. the GS/GSA considering the KTM weight advantage but the BMW doesn't fully tip over due to the boxer engine?
2. Is the KTM 790/890 going to give an intermediate rider on BDR tracks (all levels of the BDR tracks - not just gravel forest service roads) more confidence due to its more off road focused specs such as the 21 inch front wheel etc.?
Hello Bret I have just fitted Karoo 3 front tire on my S10, thought I have bought the wrong tire but after watching this video it has giving me piece of mind THANKS for the great video
ОтветитьYeh puddles in tahuya especially have big roots that hide inside the water and due to this fact everytime I go through I am ready to pull the clutch to disengage lower and I keep my knees out and bent ..looks funny but it allows it to absorb off axis tourque and harsh bumps...
ОтветитьI'll contact you for off road riding lessons next time I visit the US. I learned a lot from your videos. It's time for real lesson
ОтветитьHi Bret, thanks for all of the great content! What tail bag do you have on your 790 in this video?
ОтветитьHow would it be if you ride like this with a GSA? Would it be as much fun? Looks amazing
ОтветитьThanks for posting. You sure make it look easy. :)
