Lou Holtz coached him for a year. Joe was at the end of his career. Holtz said "He was the first to come to practice, and the last to leave." "He always gave it 100%."
ОтветитьExcellent Interveiw ! Joe is a Class Act in his Hey Days i was too Young to appreciate or Understand his Accomplishments in the Sport ! i like his Values and can Understand why he got where he did.
ОтветитьGreat interview! Great guest. Joe was some kind of tough!
ОтветитьThis was much better than i thought it would be. And i’m grateful to him for the medical research he’s helped in pioneering. Bravo Joe!
ОтветитьI still remember Joe in that Brady Bunch episode. LOL
ОтветитьJoe Namath is a genuine gentleman…
ОтветитьI hate the Jets with a passion but its hard not to love Namath
ОтветитьNamath is a treasure. A character. Classy and genuine.
ОтветитьI don’t care about his stats,he was fun to watch!!
ОтветитьLOL!!!
Gale Sayers is in the Hall of Fame with a paltry 39 career rushing touchdowns.
I have never heard ONE person say he shouldn't be in though.
Football in the 1970s was a dangerous game that was like pro wrestling.
The NFL is basically like soccer in 2024. No contact allowed.
Nothing about The Brady Bunch episode?😅
ОтветитьHave been around Joe and he’s a first class guy.
ОтветитьYou know, it is funny, because I had the exact opposite experience. Maybe it was because I was from a bigger city (Philadelphia), maybe it was because it was 20 years later (1980). But I moved to the South as a ten year old in 1980. We had moved across the bridge into Jersey by the time I started school in 1975 and my schools up there were completely segregated still. Perhaps it was because we moved to the suburbs in Jersey and no black kids lived out there at the time. I do not know.
But I moved to North Carolina and down here, when I arrived in '80, the schools were COMPLETELY desegregated. We all grew up together. All racial prejudice that I remember in my life came from my aunts and uncles back in Philly. Down here, we just did not HAVE those problems. Hell, I have been married to a black woman for 20 years now, a thing that my relatives back in Philly still have a hard time computing.
My theory: Here in the south, we had a worse problem when it came to race originally. But that caused us to work harder to get past it. In any case, the south that I have known, between 1980 and today (2024 as I write this)...it is just not like that. We all get along down here.
Joe Namath and Dan Marino. Awesome quarterbacks
ОтветитьGreat interview with Joe Namath, thank you for sharing. I have been a very big fan of his since the early 1960s. Joe always has a lot of class. I hope one day I will have the Honor of meeting him. God Bless Joe Namath & his family always. Will always love Broadway Joe 💕.
ОтветитьNobody in The History of the Game Had A Prettier Dropback Style like Namath. He looked as if he was Ballot Dancing + A Generational Throwing Arm it was a Cannon!
ОтветитьWhat a wonderful attitude JN has. He's the kind of guy you would enjoy having a conversation with across the kitchen table. God Bless you Joe! Here's hoping you have many more years of happiness and health. You're the best.
ОтветитьThere will never be another Joe Namath!
ОтветитьBroadway Joe. Women - wanted to be with him. Men - wanted to be him
ОтветитьRtr! Found a half Jets/Bama miniature helmet with his autograph not too long ago.
ОтветитьI lived in a neighboring town to Beaver Falls called New Brighton. I was in an orphanage or group home called the Beaver County Childrens Home there from the late 60's to the mid 70's. I remember Joe's mother came to the place and everyone got a Joe Namath figure in Jets uniform about a foot tall. She probably made other donations to the home that I didn't know about. Joe was a real hero around here.
ОтветитьAlcoholic stew bum
ОтветитьThis clown derailed his career with massive amounts of whiskey and nose candy
ОтветитьBear Bryant = "Joe Namath is the GOAT."
John Madden = "Joe Namath is the GOAT."
Millennials = "Joe Namath is overrated because of meaningless padded QB statistics nobody cared about in the 1970s."
I started following Joe Namath and his career, because he made a guest appearance on the Brady Bunch. Until then, I had no interest in football and never heard of him. After that episode, I became a Jets fan on that day.
ОтветитьI remember Joe paying a special visit to Bobby Brady believing the young kid was dying. Yet when Joe found out the truth he was happy a young boy would go to that kind of trouble to meet him.
ОтветитьHere is a strange fact about that Super Bowl win. Hall of fame receiver Don Maynard did not catch a pass in the game. If someone back then would have told you that and the Jets would still win, they would think you're crazy.
ОтветитьHe did a lot of good things, but I think he is overrated. His personality got him inrto the hall of fame.
ОтветитьNothing but a winner! “ Paul Bear Bryant “.
ОтветитьI am from the Beaver Falls area and am lucky to have talked to Joe at least 5 or 6 times. Always a gentleman and always nice to my friends and me. Very happy and very proud for him and his success. He never forgot us up here. God bless you Joe!
ОтветитьTheres only one QB who could have beat my Baltimore Colts in SB 3 and it was Namath.
ОтветитьWestern Pennsylvania pride.
ОтветитьBehind all the accomplishment the ups and downs is a lovely guy
ОтветитьIn 2016 I'm recovering from a triple bypass. And I'm watching the replay of the third Superbowl over and over and over. Thanks Joe. It all helped me heal immensely.
ОтветитьHe was drunk one time. No adults who have made mistakes give a darnn.
ОтветитьYOU GO BACK IN BECAUSE OF THE DRUGS THEY GIVE YA
ОтветитьOn Monday Night football every time he would say play, he would pronounce it Palay. I’ll never forget that.
Big fan.
As a native Pittsburgher I grew up with most of the player names you both talked about. Thank you so much for this great video about a great man.
ОтветитьI've damn near worshiped Joe Namath my whole life, and I'm 70 years old. However, when he talks about how he had never experienced segregation until he went to Alabama either he is mistaken or lying. He says he would have gone to Maryland if he had better test scores, but Maryland was segregated too. Blacks showed up on their roster at the same time as at Bama. Maryland had segregated schools too, just like Bama did, and they integrated about the same time Alabama did. Maybe Joe never visited the University of Maryland, but I highly doubt that either. Just sayin'. Btw, Bear Bryant cached at Maryland too fwiw.
ОтветитьBrings tears to my eyes, Joe talking about how the Jets can't win SB 3.
ОтветитьThank you Joe for the awesome football career . A true Winner
ОтветитьGod bless him 🙏🏼🙏🙏🏼
ОтветитьOutstanding stuff
ОтветитьI love it. I thought my name was shut up until 14 years old. Lol
ОтветитьI’m 71, and I think that Joe is the person I’d most like to meet. In addition to his otherworldly football talents, I’ve just always admired his authenticity and genuine appreciation to everyone that helped him and supported him along the way. Great interview!
Ответить❤
ОтветитьOne thing l will remember till the day l die is The Bear saying about Namath you should have seen him before he had his knee injury.l believe Namath is what made Alabama football he's still my favorite he's so down to Earth and most of all He can still live and tell his story God bless you Broadway Joe You've earned it.
ОтветитьJoe Namath
Such a sweet guy
God Bless
He played in the 60’s in the AFL.
