Five years later... I think this definitely is meant to be a take on lynch mobs. Can't say whether it's meant to be satirical or simply absurd, but there's definitely something about it.

Theory: I assure you that this protagonist is not bimbo.
Because of the character, his snout is way more longer than bimbo’s, in fact bimbo doesn’t appear to obtain a longer snout.

I believe that this character in swing you sinners was probably bimbo’s older brother.
He gone to a life of sin and was sent to hell.

Which could explain why his character design changed, only except it wasn’t it was bimbo himself

Such good animation for its time

I kind of have this theory that after Bimbo ran into the graveyard, he tripped and hit his head on a gravestone and the rest of the short is Bimbo transitioning to the afterlife.

Probably overthinking it, but just a thought.

Also, forget your hat, Bimbo. I'd leave it if it fell off and continue running for my life.

Why does this look rushed?

The way that it ends so abruptly makes it more unsettling somehow
