Two Strategies to Win the War on Lust

Transforming the mind is about giving to peace for the sake of peace. It’s about meditating on the person and work of Christ and becoming one with his giving nature. Basically, it’s about receiving peace and giving peace. When you value peace and the glory of God more than sin, you will choose reverence and honor for Christ and you will win the war against lust.

Yes we women suffer from lust too. It's very dangerous. May God help us overcome this temptations

She shouldn’t be guilty about random thoughts popping in her head, just because someone knocked doesn’t mean you have let them in.

About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”

“Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”

The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

first of all: This story is actually very funny to me. 😂 Peter's like an Archie character, smelling a freshly baked pie on the windowsill. Its just another reason to love him.

But the main thing I wanted to point out is this verse: “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” Acts 10:15

I am not about to say that p--- is somehow "made clean" for us. It absolutely is not. and that thought would be blasphemous against Christ.

But what I am saying is this. If you have faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior, that he died for your sins and rose from the dead, you are clean. Your sins are gone in Christ. God will never remember them again.

For me the hardest times to fight lust, are when I feel really low and unworthy. It could be from any reason... my past sins or my present weakness. This is especially true if I've already fallen once that day. I'll start "talking myself into" the idea that I just can't resist it. I'm too unholy, too corrupted, too much of a loser and a sinner. Condemnation is all I deserve.

But this verse in Acts 10 should give me a reason to change my mindset. It says: "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

So this is what I have to tell myself.

Whenever you sin:
1) confess your sin to God.
2) sincerely repent.
3) accept God’s amazing grace given freely to us, through the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
4) Go in peace.

That's the end of the process. You are free to go. There's no more regret; no more shame, guilt and self-punishment. "Do not call impure what God has made clean." If you belong to Christ you have been washed, sanctified, and justified by his blood. "You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you."

So leave your sins behind you. Give thanks to Jesus, rejoice and be glad in your heart. Rejoice in the freedom and glory we have as the children of God.

James 4:7 submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. This is when you submit to God you have already resisted the devil.

I am 30+ and not married yet. Whenever I have uncontrollable sexual desire, I fast for a day or two like the Muslim does and it works like magic. All the sexual desires disappear. That’s the Islamic way of dealing with lust if you can’t get married. I tried many other ways before to divert my lust and sometimes those work for a while. Only fasting gives me perfect control over lust for a long period of time.

This has been the best strategy I heard in 33 years of struggling..Wow thank you.

Im struggling with lust and i keep pushing so hard to resist in my head i feel like in gonna pop a vessel soon. This women at my new church just keeps popping in my head. Not sexually i do sit there thinking is she ok, what is she doing. And woow she is beautiful, however it is hard. Everyday for the last week it been constant. From the moment i wake up to the moment i fall asleep.

Believing in God isn't necessary to make these changes. Speaking from experience. That goes for anything too. No disrespect to anyone, if it helps you then great, but this comment is in response to the part around where he said that non-believers are only at the mercy of temptation.

This really is powerful. Im going to shortcut this and johns similar sermon and listen to them daily for a bit. The biggest step in the right dirction given to me do far has been serious bible study. Ive been doing grant hornors plan for a few month and reading the word daily is causing my whole being to shift. All praise to God.

I am very lucky to quit after only one month
But I am going to pray for all of you
To go to heaven and get cleaned from sin

Include FASTING to combat lust! I've been doing daniel fasts often, and I've seen significant progress. Relapse might happen, but if you keep on fasting, you'll get stronger to resist the temptations.

Sex is supposed to be reserved for true male and female husband and wife. We live in a world where sex sells though. So it's no wonder why so many people struggle with sexual immorality. Love is a precious gift from God. But God's love for us is even more then what we can love eachother and without God's love how could we even begin to know how to love others appropriately 🤔 especially in a marriage. Marriage is also much more then sexual relationship, you are agreeing to take care of the person and if there's children them too. It's a huge responsibility far beyond the pleasures of sex.

By hearing the word of God get scriptural read and pray God is the best teacher 🙏

This is something many humans are wrestle with. first and foremost you must understand thoughts are natural phenomena and that they're neither good or bad they're just thoughts. What we must understand is that thoughts have a conscious element to it and they're constantly pleading for your attention so that they can manifest themselves into the physical world through you. So how to deal with it one, take the visual image of it and give it a different costume make it something ugly and unattractive give it a silly name not scary, two. attach a smelly odor to it, three shrink it down to the size of a mouse while you see yourself becoming Ten Feet Tall over it four look at it tell it you have no power over me laugh at it then turn off your conscience light ( make the scene in your mind go dark. )and quickly put on some nice music or think about something much Pleasant like joyful time you have had in your life. Masturbation is normal. The average man masturbates twice a day. Those are the stats. It is not sin, and there is no such thing as a 'sin of thought'. The church is in error on this issue. God has provided masturbation as a "way of escape" from the temptation to fornicate. There are thousands of young Christian men plagued by a false guilt on this issue.

Today's Christianity makes everything a sin or close to it. Even hugging or kissing your children is a no no.

Just get old. It'll go away.

I have been battling with this for a very long time now... Can be clean a couple of months but always falling back. I have been praying and reading the bible for months now but it is as hard as ever. Brothers in christ has been praying for me but the first thing i feel every morning is lust. I have been specific with exactly what gets me in my prayers but still gets attacked daily. A local pastor said it took him many years for him but it suddenly went away. I think i will some day but not today.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come before you in the name of Jesus, asking for your help in overcoming the stronghold of lust and any demonic influence in my life. I confess that I have been struggling with this sin and need your strength and guidance to break free.

I renounce any and all ties I have with the spirit of lust and ask for your forgiveness for giving in to its temptations. I ask that you cleanse me from all unrighteousness and fill me with your Holy Spirit to guide me on the path of righteousness.

I declare that I am a child of God, and through the power and authority of Jesus Christ, I rebuke any demonic influence in my life. I command any unclean spirits that have been holding me back to leave me now in the name of Jesus.

I lost this fight. Given over to a reprobate mind and seared conscience. I tried fighting habitual sin on my own and lost. I destroyed everything that was given to me. I'm a total failure

I am afraid this answer is correct but secondary. Primarily is to understand the sanctuary of righteousness or sin. The heart is not the inner sanctuary. A right heart is all a man needs. Renew a right spirit within me was David's cry after his fall into sin. Search your heart. If yiu love the sin, you can not fight it. Jesus loved righteousness and hated evil ( wickedness). Keep your heart with all diligence from it flows issues of life.

Dear Lord I need your help in my lustful ways,I have been good for about 5 to 6 months but the feeling and thoughts are back in my mind and it's getting back to where I have been. So please help Lord 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️

The thing is it is what we entertain our minds with music, movies, tv shows or websites we have brain waves of memory that cause us to capture those sinful images that tempt us to act out what we entertain ourselves with.
