I notice you Googled the Apple login page when "going directly to Apple" rather than clicking a link.. I believe there have been instances of spammers somehow getting ahead of legitimate URLs and bank fraud support numbers in Google's rankings. You should always have a copy of these important numbers to hand, to avoid having to try to find them when under intense pressure..

I get texts from 'Evri' saying they missed me and to follow the link in the text to arrange another delivery. I knew this was a scam as soon as I got the first text because the legitimate delivery company just drop everything on the doorstep and leave it without knocking.

I’ve got the following tip. Don’t use the same PIN for opening your phone on your bank account(s) or any important stuff. If a scammer looks at your PIN over your shoulder they can also open your bank account (or whatever).

My Dad got caught by the WhatsApp scam. We managed to freeze his account so they couldn’t take anything. Next morning he got a call from the scammers, pretending to be the Fraud dept of his bank, trying to get more information. “Do you have any other bank accounts?”.🙄

Good tip sir , I get the sms scam messages all the time , sometimes they are related to paying bill or a fine of some description, a popular one is the toll fee one because we have lots of toll roads in my neck of the woods.
I go by the “ if there is any doubt at all delete” method .

The funniest (not) call was from a butcher’s shop in a different State saying my hubby had left his phone on the shop counter. Except we were laying in bed next to each other. To retrieve his “all edged ph” would have been a 17-19 hour drive. I let all unknown calls go to VM, if they’re legitimate they’ll leave a msg you can understand. However scammers are leaving blank VM’s but if you listen carefully you can hear it’s fr a call centre or you’ll get press 1 for Chinese or 2 for English ignore, report & block on yr phone. Also had the Mum/Dad ph fell in the loo this is my new no., except we only have fur children. Don’t be fooled by calls purporting to be from yr own local area / CBD as often they show up with an international dialling prefix UK +44 Australia +61. Ty. Have a fabulous morning, afternoon or evening Best wishes from Adelaide; South Australia🦘🐨🇦🇺💐

Thanks again for some very important advice! I would definitely not spend this much money on a "phone" that I intended to use only as a PHONE. It would make no sense to use it for that and not take advantage of the convenience of all the apps available. So, any help we can get to make our iPhones more secure is greatly appreciated! Your videos plus a little common sense should help protect us from many of these scammers. Of course, they will always keep looking for new ways and loopholes to access and scam the most vulnerable.

You can lockdown your iCloud account on your phone through Screen Time>Content and Privacy, that requires a different passcode than the one used for the phone. iOS18 will allow you to lock and hide certain apps using biometrics as well.

A huge part of this problem is that landline, mobile phone and broadband customer and other support services for a U.K. customer base are often based outside of the U.K., such as mobile call centres based in the Philippines and broadband call centres being based in India - in my 23 years living here in the U.K. (I’m Irish myself) I’ve long held for many years that this process of outsourcing should be banned as its leading to these scams, companies serving a U.K. customer base should simply not be allowed to outsource outside of the U.K. - only last year, my next door neighbour back home in the Republic of Ireland was very badly targeted by Indian call centre scammers and only that her sons are IT Experts, the situation would have been much worse, as the police are powerless to act when the scammers are outside of the EU - for similar reasons, my broadband and mobile phone package is sky high and I can’t talk to anyone to change it, which I would be able to do if they had a U.K. call centre

The fact that someone I know was just texting back a reply to such a spam SMS a short while ago makes this kind of content all the more relevant! A lot of folks are unaware of the consequences of such interactions.

Also I don't think these are the only methods in use. I have also experienced silent calls from strange international locations where the other party remains silent when you say "hello".

Perhaps there is much more to learn here. More such hack-eductational videos please!

I have a 8 character alphanumeric passcode. I use Face ID exclusively to open the phone. On those occasions when asked to enter the passcode. I find a secluded place, usually a bathroom stall, to enter it. That may sound a bit overcautious, some say paranoid, but I feel safer.

Just a note on Stolen Device Protection. If you happen to be popping into your local network shop for a phone upgrade and you also plan to trade in your device make sure you disable this before you leave home! You may not be able to disable it in the shop and may need to go back home to do so before you can trade in.
