EMBEDDING - is this a good thing?

Thank you for the information, but you didn't really address whether embedding is a good or a bad thing. I already knew how to disable it so I was hoping you would give some perspective on whether its a good thing or not like your title implied...

I don't like it either. I am on some weird sites myself. But we all are. It happens. If you don't allow embedding they won't be able to be shared on Facebook or twitter or any social media. So I guess we all gotta make the decision what we want.

embedding is a good thing! you still get all the credit and the views. this is how those who like your content can share your video like on facebook that is how videos go viral stealing your video all they have to do is download realplayer and copy your video and reupload it on there channel thats not good hope this helps

Oh I was confused at first! It is not a bad thing to have your videos embedded on other sites. It gives more views and means they liked your video and want to share it. . But thank you! Hugs:)

I happen to welcome someone using my videos. I keep this in mind though as I make them. haha. As you know my videos are about gunsmithing so I say more power to them, the more people that understand guns the better off we all are. Thank you very much. T

I've seen that feature but have never clicked off the embedding thought it might cut down my views

Embedding is a very good thing because the view counts for you on your channel. Disabling embedding cuts your views. Now when somebody copies your video and posts it as their own, that is a very different thing, that is when you should remove it. There is a tool for that kind of thing which I have used hundreds of times.

Another thing: many websites are now taking the sound from my videos, and offer free mp3. My audio tracks are far from good, but I assume they take as much as they can, on a large scale, and so they will get some traffic, and get revenues from banner ads. Pascal

I'm not sure this is a problem. Embedding means more viewers, and that means more subscriptions. A few of my vids have been embedded, and it doesn't worry me.

Really hasn't been a problem for me. One of my vids got embedded in a website for a state park-and I got more subbers out of it! Plus-most vids I put up are specialty vids that most would not find worth embedding. Also-I don't upload anything that could come back to haunt me! I educate, relate history and entertain, and that's about it. I've known about the settings all along. Exposure has benefitted me!

Probably a non-issue for most. Many of my videos are made with the expressed purpose of the subject matter (such as lure or product performance reviews) embedded in the manufacturers' websites if they choose to do so. Many are made in direct coordination/cooperation with the visual media departments of certain companies. I don't worry about who might be embedding videos about papillons or crappie fishing or stuff like that; doubt that there's much demand for those sorts of things.

I have disabled embedding for years because I didn't want other people making money with my videos. People reported problems viewing videos on mobile if embedding was disabled but i haven't heard of that for a while.

Thanks TLHL... A few of my earlier videos were used to sell fishing lures that I had never heard of!! A website out of Las Vegas was using other videos - including my videos without permission!!
