Well from what I know, a bug out bag isn't for long term survival, but for situations where you HAVE to leave your home from one moment to another to find shelter elswhere. Depending on the location this could be a "neighbour" who is living a couple of miles away, the next big city or even a hotel. A bug out bag makes your life much easier because you have more comfort and aren't fully dependent on others.

Hello, I'm here to tell you that your video on "why bug out bags are stupid" is stupid. Bug out bags aren't meant to live off for for six months. They're only the basic essentials needed to get you to where you need to go so that you can live off of your homestead/stash/whatever for six months or a year or for however long you prepared for. For example, if you have a bug out bag in your car and SHTF happens or some natural disaster happens while you're at work and you can't use your car to get you home or wherever you need to go, you have your bug out bag filled with first aid in case you get hurt or need to help someone who is hurt, you have a day or three of food and water in case you can't get to your destination quickly, you have protection, you have a bivy or similar for shelter in case you can't get to your destination. ETC.

A bug out bag is for when the shit really hits the fan. You dont want to leave the home, but in case you do, youll want a few items ready to go at notice

We are not going to bug out to nowere. You need a dugout, near a river, deep in the woods. A place you could only get on a bike. A place to hunt and grow food. Ideally a place so inccesible that you could only get near on two wheels and the rest by foot. If you have a family you better prepper to stay in your countryhouse.

Literally larping with gear that will likely never see intended use, while telling people that they will not have to use other gear for intended use.

I prefer a Get-Home bag when at work or traveling.

TO CLEAR THINGS UP:

Bugout Bag = Emergency bag that can be easily grabbed when needed, only pack what you need to get from point A to point B (point B is where the majority of your long term gear should be.)

Survival Bag = This bag should be on you when willingly knowing you are going somewhere there is a chance for injury or unexpected changes in a preplanned scenario i.e. hiking, camping, fishing, hunting etc. its meant to get you to safety as quick as possible and usually has minimal equipment.

INCH bag = A true inch bag is one based on sustainability. you will be carrying all the tools you cannot replicate in the woods, reliable firearms with ammo reloading capabilities, trapping equipment, fishing equipment, long term rain collection equipment etc. this type of bag will be heavy, you will be slow and you will be working at a snails pace but safely. this bag is truly for those who plan on staying any longer than 72 hours to a week in a forest environment (WIHTOUT ANY FORM OF OUTSIDE WORLD HELP OR CONNECTIONS)

I gotta call bs here. As a long time prepper it is vital to have a 72 hour go bag. If the shtf or a natural disaster occurs forcing you from your home in very short order, having a go bag with the essentials is critical. In a panic situation you will almost undoubtedly forget something crucial. If you have a 72 hour go bag ready to rock you'll have a few mins to grab some extras if you can carry them. Otherwise you'll be well ahead of the game and getting the fug out before everyone else does. While they're scrambling to pack what they can in the few mins they have you'll already be on the road with a head start. I could go on and on but that's the jist of it. No need to be tacticool about it either.

Mines mostly medical stuff , even injectable lidocaine and sutures. Water filter and purification tablets. Just a jans sport back pack and M9 . Weighs under 20 lbs at least.

It's very unlikely that someone will survive on their own in the woods for any length of time. That being said, that's all the more reason to have a bugout bag, not less. Not everyone has the luxury of living out in the country in a nice homestead, and even then, there's some situations where bugging out is the only option.

You need a get home bag! That’s it! A firearm on the first 72 hours will just get you killed. Camo and plate carriers just adds you to the threat list! Make sure you and your significant other and your kids have a durable pair of footwear to get them home! And a planed rout to go home Most people don’t wear good enough shoes to walk a mile on smooth pavement let alone any other conditions Home is where your shit should be! You arnt bugging out to anywhere. After you make your decision that it’s time to go it’s too late. You are are work wife is at work kids in 2-3-4 different schools. By the time you are all back together it’s going to burn your 72 hours. Then reality will have set in with the masses. If you think you are going to get to a bug out location you had better already be living there.

..... Okay. Heres the thing. Just because YOU cant imagine a use for the tech in a bag dosent mean it isnt needed. Ive been through huricanes and fires. Now. Is there stuff i wish WAS kept in a Bug out bag that no one carries? Yeah. Things like your vaccination records/ documents and theres a few other things like NOAA radios, If you dont live in a place with massive natural disasters then yeah maybe you don't need it so indepth. But I challenge you to find me somthing in a bag other then a rifle and ammo (looters steal copper cables after disasters its a known problem) that WONT save your ass after a hurricane. Maybe fishing shit? but thats so light weight I dont care if someone packs it because those hooks? They're good for stitching wounds or repairing a bag. The fishing line is actually strong and can be used as cordage if you're desperate. But no one is building their bugout BAGS for 6 months in the forrest. If they are then they need a reality check. What I WANT to see are hand out bags for your family. Come on people. two or three kits with water tablets, lighters, 24 hour candles, a knife, a light blanket, and light food is amazing. It will save lives.

I think most people conflate a bug out bag with a get home bag. Bugging out is a system. Getting home in an emergency you want to be light and fast .

Geez. How you gonna get home to your kids if shtf when you're two hours away for whatever reason. By car. You'll want to a bob / ghb I'm pretty sure. Goal is a bag that can get me to either my folks or my buddy's cabin. That's where I'd bug out to. And hole up.

You're right, all the SF operators with heavy field experience and tactical training that recommend bug out bags in the event of emergencies definitely know less than you. You're training and expertise trump any military or special operations training for sure.
