For what I have seen part of what makes people perceive the attack towards bad series with female leads as sexist comes from both fronts, the feminist groups that can't handle criticism and because these bad series can be a perfect place for real sexist people to criticize women in general rather than the faults of the product itself so everyone else who doesn't like the series because it has a bad argument gets eclipsed by this smaller group which feeds the argument of group who doesn't accept critics making it a way bigger deal in both fronts than what it needs to be.
Ответить"You are not enough, but you can still do great things. They may not bring in glory, they may even bring you pain and suffering. But if you put the goods of others before your own needs and wants, you will find true and lasting happiness"
I think this is the best sentence in this whole video. It reflects what a hero needs to go through in order to be respected and liked. No matter if female or not.
I am so happy that these movies are starting to really tank. We want stories not cash grabs
Ответитьthey are "empowering" female characters with the trades of what they are trying to condemn.
ОтветитьWith that said . The movie cinema companies have the obligation to not motivate its audience . When you understand the world you will understand this message as well.
ОтветитьIt’s political involvement democrats just suck
ОтветитьI hate both.
ОтветитьStrong women is in fact a bad writing
ОтветитьHorribly written and equally terribly acted)
ОтветитьIt's funny that nobody says sexism when millions of famous male lead movies get low ratings.
Ответить"audiences hate bad writing"
>uses arcane as an example of good writing
yep another poison-the-slums-and-blame-the-victims classic
I will say that I think the best female lead was Ellen Ripley.... hands down. Yes, there are many, many more out there but she tops them all......especially in the 2nd movie.
ОтветитьThe only thing i gotta say is sam a damn Liar knock his ass out take the ring
BOOM!!! He can clearly carry it😗
If the strong female character is a Hero than she has to follow the Hero's Journey, or the story will not resonate with the audience.
ОтветитьAnd thats why Rouge One worked, and the rest of nu star wars did not.
ОтветитьIt's hard to comprehend for some people that NO it's just bad writing for the character. They're trying to get the point across of a strong female lead, but just completely overlook at building a compelling story. I can think of so many strong female characters that are written amazingly. (Little Women, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Lord of the Rings, Barbie, Castlevania, etc. It just sucks that the content that I'm anticipating for doesn't deliver a great story and becomes more of a shallow pan for feminism.
ОтветитьOk
ОтветитьThis is a bit on the tinfoil hat side, but I'm starting to think that Hollywood is doing it intentionally. I think it's possible that all these movies and shows that heavily feature female actors, people of color, or members of the LGBTQ+ community are intentionally being poorly written and directed in an attempt to disenfranchise these groups in the acting world. I'm not necessarily saying this is what's happening, but I wouldn't be surprised.
ОтветитьAtomic Blonda was really cool to watch
ОтветитьThe shills and wokists don’t want you to watch this video…
It makes solid arguments and valid points, that discredit All the “ists” and “phobes” being spit out at people that didn’t like the bad writing.
Another ting I hate is just to copy already existing characters and make them worse... I had a hulk I don't need a she hulk, I had an iron man I don't need an iron girl and an iro woman, I had Luke and anikan skywalker I don't need rey skywalker. When there are already good characters, I don't need to see them again. And if they are written worse than the original, it's even worse
ОтветитьHello :)
Good analysis and video ! We need stories badly. More directors and artists and less producers. Or better, more producers who understand stories, their meaning and the importance of being honest with the audience.
I can hate both at the same time, often for the same reasons. "Strong women" are often a result of bad writing, but they're also a very common trope in modern writing that even if the writing is passable or even good, they'll still have some of the hallmarks of the "strong woman"
It's a trend, and it's one I hope dies soon. I'm tired of seeing the same kind of character everywhere and being told it's totally different this time.
Yeah, not even considering this angle, bad writing definitely leads to unwatchable movies. Stories should never be about promoting some agenda. It should just be about telling a story that's interesting enough for people to continue reading.
ОтветитьYo what about nimona absolutely loved her character
ОтветитьBrah, I'm rewatching Card Captor Sakura and I'm more entertain with every episodes than half an hour into Captain Marvel.😂
ОтветитьSo you're telling me that nobody like the narcissitic selfish female protagonist ??!
What a schock!
i am stupid, would somebody be so kind to sum up the core expression of the video?
ОтветитьFirst wonder woman was good as fuck.
ОтветитьI would like to add another perpective to all the things you said.
Something I noticed in this "Overpowered but Badly written Female Character" problems.
Some writers, don't understand what "power" is. Like... Mulan in the animated show, using her intelligence, using different skills to make up for something was a power in its own. Power has forms. Different shapes. You can destroy armies with a sword, but laws and regulations could keep you chained.
A good example would be Superman. Literally called "Superman", with god-like powers, could be chained down when lex luthor, his arch enemy, becomes the president.
"Superman, here you are, with power to sunder the planet, but now has to shake his hand and congratulate him. Your enemy. At that moment, who has the power I wonder..."
Original mulan was not weak. Her power had a different form, and it showed. You don't have to be a "hulk in human size" or equivalent of it, to become powerful. She obtained victory, in her own ways.
Mulan from movie, Rey, Captain Marvel, are not only given strength just like that, they are also too straightforward. Too simple. "Yeah, they can kill an army with a fist/energy beam so they are cool." Lets put them in a society with people they actually care. The Mary Sue aspect becomes even more obvious in this way. Nothing, literally nothing prevents them in anyway. Entire universe opens the path for them to punch or slash or fry their way to victory. If I obtained powers to become superman, my enemies could take my friends and family as hostage, forcing me. What is forcing captain marvel? What is forcing rey? Like... In anyway? Rey was a great jedi, was an engineer with profound understanding of tech, could do all kinds of crazy stuff with force which required maybe decades of mastery, and... Did anything truly stopped her?
so basically the problem is women or men that think like women.
Ответитьand "there's a hot chick over there, I'm going to go talk to it" goes into my list of lines to use when I want to trigger people ',:)
ОтветитьWhat i hated of Galadriel, how would have bullied the ONLY daughter of the prince of Noldor? That bully scene to me was so idiotic...
Imagine some random noble man bullying Daemon Targeryan's son...
Also the Sauron/Galadriel love telenovela, idk if they tried a new "Beren and Luthien" but that was idiotic
Costumes were cool and i enjoyed Elrond (a bit) and Durin, that is the only thing i truly enjoyed, Durin and his wife
And she could take a troll easily, but i dont remember she being a warrior, she was very very strong, maybe even more than Luthien, but she wasn't a warrior as i remember
You're trying to fight the devil with logic, it ain't gonna work.🥸
ОтветитьNo, I hate strong female characters. Not many people want to see women being men.
ОтветитьDon't ciopy what men have done create something new, Jane Austen for instance. Strong women who are good or bad or something in between. But they are telling their own atory.
ОтветитьThe problem with writing strong female roles is in the difference between boys and girls. Boys jump in the deep side of the pool and then learn to swim, girls climb into the shallow end and slowly experiment with swimming. To write a strong female role you need to understand female behaviour and use it believably in the story. The strength of all characters needs to come from the inside, not the outside. Ronda Rousey is a good basis to write a strong female role in movies.
ОтветитьI'm excited that as women, we're finally on the forefront of bad writing just like the men! It's our turn to not shine too!
ОтветитьNo to evil woke stuff in any capacity. Writing, production or characters.
ОтветитьAnother similarity is the official critics review being extremely high and the audience rating being rock bottom
ОтветитьTruth
ОтветитьAudiences today could not tell what bad writing even is even when Tommy Wiseau would slap their heads with the script of The Room.
Sorry, way too many self proclaimed YT critics, and way too many stupid and insecure idiots believing their grifter vids and clickbait titles.
Much like this channel ... enjoy my click, wont get another. One can only hope mankind gets back on track towards intelligence. But until then we sadly will have to endure people not having any clue throwing around buzzwords like MarySue, Character Arc, Heroes Journey and ... sigh ... plot holes...
Plot holes and bad writing, sure. First you all, read some actual books and become media literate, and form an opnen minded political mind preventing you from getting your judgement clouded....then start criticizing movies.
Bye. May more brain be with you all...
We all love Clarissa Starling, Sarah Connor (old movies), and Ellen Ripley. Because they all are well written and well acted.
ОтветитьThe online dating part is actually the only true and realistic bit 😂
ОтветитьHunger games did great creating a female lead also having great supporting cast help with creating a good female lead
ОтветитьFor some reason this brings to mind something Brandon Mull (author of the Fablehaven series) once said. When asked about Fablehaven, “Do you really think you know how a thirteen year-old girl thinks to write one as your main character?” he replied, “I don’t know how ‘a thirteen-year old girl’ thinks, but I know how Kendra Sorensen thinks.” Don’t write a strong female character. Create a real-feeling, possibly strong, female character, and her environment, and let her live for a while. Then write about what just happened to her.
