As a structural mechanic on large aircraft, there's a reason why no commercial aircraft companies use carbon fiber on a large scale. it doesn't breath like aluminum, nor does it take impact as well. Carbon is also very prone to micro tears, further reducing its structural value.

Just 5 inches thick? Others are 3 to 5 feet thick and made of titanium steel. Seriously?

People need to understand that the BIGGEST design flaw wasnt actually the carbon fiber ( although a horrible design choice, yes), the choice for a cylindrical rather than spherical hull was the ultimate killer.
