A very thorough and easy to understand tutorial. To further "sell" a shot like this, I would add a shadow catcher (in Cycles mode) where the actor's neck and/or shoulders would be, so that the helmet shadow would fall on the actor's "body" (giving the shadow catcher the same color material as the actor, for any reflections or bounce light that's recorded by the helmet mesh). While alignment of the shadow-catcher mesh may require a frame-by-frame adjustment (or possibly an animated armature if there's a lot of actor movement), a larger light source would soften the shadow, reducing the amount of work needed to keep the shadow aligned. Keeping this in mind from the outset, the original footage should be shot with softer lighting. Not exactly sure how this would work with HitFilm, though. Thanks for the tutorial.

Hi, thanks for this great tutorial! One big problem for me. I followed everything perfectly, everything is precise as in your video, only big problem for me.... The head turns to the right, the mask to the left. I do not understand why. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the video! How do you set the scene frames to specific frames in blender before tracking? I click the button thinking it will allow me to put in the start and end frame and instead nothing seems to happen.

Pretty cool I must say. I usually use AFX. And hadn't heard about HitFilm. May check it out. Thanks. But why not just use the Film editor and compositing tools within Blender??

You forgot the helmets shadow on her neck and collarbone area. A simple shadow catcher could be enough to sell the impression.
