Ffs… some of you guys need to out and touch GRASS. Seriously, get your head out of being obsessed with a generic looking laptop. It’s just a laptop that is the same looking as all the other friggin laptop sold. Who cares what brand it is. They’re all junk.

I got my t470 for 30 bucks from a danish recycling. Threw 8gb of ram for 10 bucks, and its a pretty good mashine.

T480 is just so good

Got a used 460s for myself for $100 with 12GB ram and 128GB storage. Probably gonna be upgrading the storage soon but its really worth the money. These laptops were built to stand the test of time. Not many out there with a 6th gen intel processor and have the upgradability options that these thinkpads give you.

Agree on the keyboard. Dell are still like "typing on dead flesh" according to our IT guy

I still have my T420 and use it every day. The latest bios update allows for RAM upgrade from 8gb to 16gb.

i still have my T430 with upgrades i7 CPU and 16 gb of ram...nice samsung ssd...runs very nice, especially if i need to edit videos mobile with Filmora 11 seems to work quite good, bought it for sharp $10 just had to unlock the bios and i wouldn't say my newer laptop does any better for my use.

Just got a really good deal on a slightly banged up T470s with maxed out ram. Installed arch with i3wm on it and using it for web development at work. The CPU can struggle a bit with heavier web pages, but the experience overall has been better than expected. Feels like using i3 (or any other super light window manager) is a saving grace for this class of laptop.

"Heavy enough to loose against gravity" xD - it's a tough tradeoff, using durable but heavy materials that will survive such a fall with only minor dents and scratches at worst, or using light maybe more flexible materials that COULD survive a fall without breaking, but also violently disassemble itself tragicly and dmg components inside - i think we need more research on this xD

People always talk about the "s" but never the "p"... I've found the T470p to be pretty good even now.

My company uses Lenovo Thinkpads, and part of my job is offbaording employee equipment. So I get anywhere from T440s to T490S laptops back mostly from older employees. Since they're well out of warranty, They're pretty much ewasting them all despite the reapairability. The current T14S models have little to no upgradability or repairability and it gets frustrating.

Noticed this video a couple of years late. I bought a Yoga 9i last year for almost $1000 because it's beautiful. But last week I bought a T460S (FHD 1ps) in excellent condition for $140. I prefer the latter! No functional difference for the few things I use a laptop for. Good review.

14 inch thinkpads are not very portable IMO.

Many years ago I picked upa T440 for cheap. I modded it myself, changed the screen for a high definition screen, modded the trackpad to have the three physical buttoms and even changed the keyboard to a back lit one. Loved using it despite how bulky it felt, but it was sturdy.

Then one day, it wouldn't boot into the bios. Got the beeps of death. To this day I haven't been able to figure out the issue or had time to fix it but I still hope to use it again one day.

I just bought a ThinkPad T460p, i7-6820HQ, 32GB DDR4, 500GB SSD, and an Nvidia 940MX for $260. Hope it runs pretty well. Curious how the battery does.

You will not get your hands on my T430, I love it, and it's on every day and just works, On the main disk I have W10 and on the other drive in the CD bay is my second drive with Linux.

i got my dad an x230 around when this was posted we used stickers with surilic on the keyboard, I just got a used t460 one of the speakers is fucked but other then that its perfect, the only difurence I would like to see is tripple the igpu for casual gaming and maybe switching the fn and control keys because i use combos at work and I dont know how anoying an fn will be when I start using it for work

I have a bulky T530 and I quad boot on it.

Picked up T460 with 16gb of ram, i5, and 128 gb nvme drive for $120 as a dedicated work laptop. These laptops are a great deal at these prices and I would say better than new $200-$300 laptops from the likes of HP and Dell.

I got my ThinkPad X260 on the late 2021. Overall I'm happy with it. The only annoying thing is X260 doesn't support m.2 SSD.
