Is Battlefield 2 As Good As You Remember?

I loved playing an engineer in BF2. Laying mines, and repairing vehicles at choke points was always really great for frustrating the opfor

To be fair it's 18 years old now and this review is 9 years old, but I don't think it's a good game to go back to at all. I loved this game and played it obsessively in the 2000's. I have wonderful memories of playing it. Playing it again after over a decade was disappointing. The movement is awful, the guns are terribly inaccurate, going down a bumpy hill damages your tank, stepping onto a curb causes your character to jitter. It's janky, it's clunky, it's unintuitive. It's from a different time and it shows. In my opinion it has a better place in my mind as a nostalgic memory than it does on my hard drive.

I always tell people how this is the only perfect game I’ve ever played and my favorite game of all time. Even the console version “Modern Combat” was pretty good!

I will never forget when I played the demo for the first time. Myself and my brother who never plays games, were totally hooked. This game was a classic! I tried others in the future and they just never had the same feel.

its 2023... and what can i say... we have BF2042, battlebit remastered and some other... and battlefield 2 wipes the floor with all these casual bores, in all areas it is simply superior to all these current games, only in terms of graphics one could wish for a newer, more modern technique

Battlefield 2 was what BF should be today. A good hybrid between Squad/Arma with arcadey style shooting like CoD to a degree.

I not only remember the game, but also the fellowship, the clans. I had so many laughs. When EA killed the game I swore off never to buy another EA game... And I never did.

I played one of the new ones, its like a totally different game and not really in a good way far too arcadey even when I'm in that mood.

was always awesome being commander thinking all is well then suddenly you see a van pull up full of special ops guys who begin lacing your equipment with C4, call for a squad to come & assist but until backup arrives pull out your shotgun "lets do this" the new battlefield games got nothing on BF2

Got some very fond memories of this game, good times! Though tbh I didn't spend much time running around this game, I was all about those vehicles specially jets. Sometimes had to fight to get one but it was worth it, so much fun!

Bad Company/ Bad Company 2 was there Pinnacle it is the Game that put DICE on the Radar.

It's better than I remember. I downloaded a 10-part rar copy from megaupload while I was in shop class (we couldn't power tools so I went straight for the PC since I had no internet at home)

It ran pretty good on my cheap laptop in 2009, and I was hooked.

Battlefield 3 came out on Xbox 360 and was cool, but I was kind of disappointed that no one I knew had played battlefield 2

I founded the 'Arctic Warrior' and at one point was Top 10 Ranked squad in BF2. There was no eSports or gaming leagues but we got paid a good amount by sponsors just by naming ourselves: [AW:Sponsor Name]game-tag
Even after transitioning and retiring from playing competitive CS:GO - BF2 is the default game I return to.

BF2, Vietnam, 1942 and Star Wars Battlefront all had this huge battle feel to them. And, honestly, I'll take that fun on huge maps with tons of players and vehicles ranging from scooters up to battleships over any modern graphics any day...

I remember back in 2006-2008, me my brother and 4 other friends would go to a computer club (LAN Cafe) every saturday, when we were not at school. We always paid for 3 hours to use the PCs and at least 1 hour (sometimes 2) of those 3 we were playing BF2. I miss my childhood. DICE should definitely make a BF2 Remake for the 20th anniversary in 2025.

Why does Bf2 graphics look so much worse than bf1?
