I personally wouldn’t buy any wheel beneath a fanatec dd still cheap but miles ahead of a Logitech or Thrustmaster

I have spent a lot of money on equipment. However this only srated to happen after ten years of being in the hobby. To the new commers, take it eay and make sure this is for you. It gets stupid expensive if not careful . Worth every penny :)

I designed my own aluminium cockpit, with adjustable pedal tray and monitor stand ( doh im using mostly vr) for around 340€ and got a really nice car seat for 50€. So my Rig was under 400 and is bombproof with tons of adjustability. I would recommend everyone does the same, dont buy that overpriced cockpits they sell everywhere. My cockpit wouldve cost me around 900€+ if i got it from a brand. (but i race only on PC, had allready a 3000€+ pc before getting into simcracing, that helped ofc)
Edit: if someone wants the plan and itemslist for the cockpit, i glady help you out.
Greatings from Germany, sorry for my poor english.

Your view and ideas were exact...Sim racing is a hole you can fall down VERY quick, I tried it years ago loved it and have spent $$$ on mistakes or "upgrades" that I thought would benefit me. With the market being as strong as it is now there's sooo many ways to go. I game PS/PC and started out yes I agree go Logitech G923 I believe is the newest version start there see if it's for you first. Pick one up easily secondhand the market is flooded, if you find you do enjoy next thing to look at is yes where your mounting if your upgrading from said Logitech I was dumb I went wheelstand die to space issues but wasn't happy not stable the chair slides when you press on brake whether there's a "tray" or not it lifts... Foldable cockpits again waste of money..2 places you want to focus if you want to start are cockpit/rig and yes pedals, pedals make more of a difference in lap times then base and rim period. Good set of loadcell pedals go miles so that should be looked at when starting, next cockpit but depending on space you have if you have enough dedicated space yes go aluminum profile it's endlessly adjustable and upgradeable..I went the Playseat trophy as well red version and I'm so happy it's got the rigidity sturdiness of 80/20 rigs but also lightweight enough to move out of the way when done. I did go the Fanatec route the at the time offered a F1 podium DD1 which is now disc. but you can find them secondhand and right now id say jump that route before people ram the price up because it's only one that works on PS/PC other then the CSL DD Pro which yes is also a great base 8nm which honestly I set my DD1 at 14 which to me is perfect. Logitechs new direct drive is great but absolutely no ecosystem yet no expandability the wheel you get is the wheel you stay with where Fanatec has a great range of wheels, and 1k for a Logitech setup just is way to high to me, now Thrustmaster just came out with a DD but it's only PC compatible as of now but Thrustmaster has by far the most expansive ecosystem between the 3.

Gt7 does not get anywhere near to 120 fps at 4k. To reach that target, the game plays at 1080p and looks significantly worse.

I'm old retired and have two complete rigs, one for console and one for PC.

Over the past 2 years I've been buying all the latest Direct drive bases on the market just because I can and want to experience them for my self.

In the late 90s I was mainly doing flight sims but went full racing Sims in the mid 2000.

I currently use a fanatec DD1 podium for ps5 and a simucube v2 sport for PC.
If I where going to recommend a wheel that's good value for money for both PC and console it would be the Logitech Pro. The FFB is spot on and truforce is no joke and is a game changer, the only problem is the pedals although much better than standard pedals.

If you have a little more money then the fanatec DD1 podium with the CSL elite V2 pedals, I much prefer the modular mode of the CSL elite V2 pedals over the V3's

I had a t248... The pedals broke within a month and the wheel felt so cheap... The plastic seams on the wheel actually "crackle" when you hold it.
Returned it after Tmaster support was absolutely abysmal. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Good informative video thanks. One of the main questions I have though is the TV/screen, you mention being able to us 120hz on PS5. Would you best going for a 4K TV on a sim rig or a gaming monitor? If so, any recommendations? I currently use a Samsung C24F396FHU curved monitor but when I move to a rig, I would like to get a slightly bigger screen, I was thinking 32" as I don't have the room to go bigger than that. Thanks

If you have any plans for drifting, make sure you're researching the wheel you're getting for it. Some wheels like the G29 and G923/920 have a slower return rate than say a T300RS. You want a faster return rate/stronger motor so that you'll have a better time. You can still drift with a DFGT/G29/etc but it's not gonna be as good of an experience if you had a T300/Direct drive/etc.

Got this recommended. But, I'm actually just kinda thinking of having Wheels on my table. I haven't done anything so in the past. Good to know about basics in Wheels setup over here. I'm also on the budget side of things, So, I'm def. going to check out more low cost Driving gears next to come up with the right combo

Nice informative video!! I love my tgt2 with gt7 and the psvr2, it's a fantastic experience, no way I'm going back to flat screen racing, it's too much of a game changer. My advice if you plan on mainly playing gt7 like me, buy a tgt2 servo base, if possible at a discount or used, tlcm pedals and the 599xx alcantara 30cm wheel. Killer combo at a somewhat reasonable price, and the tgt2 transducer, exclusive to gt7, is awesome.
