Good demo. Any particular reason you hang your tarp from the ridgeline rather than over top of it? I've seen it done both ways and I usually put it over the top but wondering your reasoning.
Thanks
Nate
So easy to grasp and great video, thanks! - Now, will go out and tarp-try! :)
ОтветитьI’ve learned so many new good ideas about hammock camping. I definitely need to set up my tarp like this to make like easier.
ОтветитьThanks: great video!
ОтветитьPutting your adjustable friction knots at the corner of the tarps as opposed to the stakes, you can adjust tension simply by reaching out slightly from under the tarp. You can see how this would be a big advantage in wet weather. Going to the stake to adjust will get you wet, adjusting simply by reaching your arms out to the corners of the tarp will keep you much dryer. I used to do it your way but experience changed that.
ОтветитьI enjoyed this beginner tutorial on putting up a tarp; reminded me of what I was showing my six year old grandson on our camping trip last weekend. Good job.
That said, I find the captions unnecessary and distracting. If you are going to use them, put a little quality control into them. "im'" is not the same as "I'm," and the stakes you used are not 'steaks.'
Mean video; cheers brother!
ОтветитьThat was great! I'm just starting out using tarps as an addition to my camping & I watched & copied with shoe laces
Brilliant
Knots explained very well. Thanks.
ОтветитьThe First taut line looked like a Magnus?!?
ОтветитьThank you so much for what ought and should be taught in schools (US). Wish I'd had this knowledge 40 years ago. Easy, concise, beautifully done. Thank you, thank you.
ОтветитьGreat instruction. But, I'm a compulsive editor . . . so. The word is stake, not steak, although you were probably thinking of what you were having for dinner. Hope you did.
ОтветитьThis is very useful as I need a setup like this for temporary cover. The things you drive into the ground are stakes and not steaks, that are pieces of a cow!
Ответитьso helpful.
I hate knots, but you made them bearable.
What tarp are you using?
ОтветитьGreat instructions. Thanks! I'll be working on mine this weekend 👍
ОтветитьThank you, you are the best knot teacher ever!
ОтветитьWhere was Bear? Nobody even drank pee strained through their own underpants. Outraged! 😂
Ответитьsubscribiing because it's so informational!
ОтветитьAll is well when it’s not windy .
ОтветитьI never like how to videos or save them, but this is the best I've ever seen. Very well done
ОтветитьJust found you! I appreciate your instructions, they were very easy to follow and remember. New follower
ОтветитьGreat vid, thank you. I cant find a vid on how to set the tarp for first time though. Like recommendations for the ropes lenght and so on, could someone point me to such kind of video or article or forum post or something? Thanks.
ОтветитьI am enjoying this channel so much.
ОтветитьOne of the best tutorials I have seen. Much appreciated. 👍
Ответитьone of the best and easiest videos on tarp setup ive seen very nice
ОтветитьSuch a simple but effective way of passing on your knowledge. Thanks 👍🏼
ОтветитьBungee cords work well
ОтветитьJust tried the taught line knot for the first time, amazing and so simple. Will definitely be a go to next time i go camping, thank you!
ОтветитьI like it! Simple and effective!
ОтветитьWhat material do you use to make your ridgeline
ОтветитьVery nice 👍😊
ОтветитьSimple easy awesome! Thanks buddy !
ОтветитьThanks for a great demo. I’m trying to learn my knots now, way later in life than I should be.
ОтветитьJust got my tarp with this easy set up and this video is perfect! How long was the piece of rope you used to create the prusik knot?
ОтветитьThank you! Really great instruction and easy to follow.
ОтветитьWhy are you using the taught line hitch for a ridge line
ОтветитьOne thing I don't understand: How did you attach the tarp in the middle to prusik knot? Does your tarp have a strap built into or something? The only tarps I know of are the cheap blue kind, so maybe I'm just no familiar with good tarps?
ОтветитьReally well done. The perfect tarp set up. We've used this approach many times. Great over a picnic table so you can slide it back and forth depending on sun and rain.
ОтветитьAmazing. Clear. Concise. So well explained for anyone looking to start using tarp shelters.
What knot do you use to connect your corner lines to the tarp?
How can I get a bear essentials hat?
ОтветитьWhy do we use shock cord at all of the tieout points, but not on the ridgeline? Never have asked just followed along.....
ОтветитьI wished I'd learn this when I was a kid! I'm 61 and just now learning these knots. I've driven a truck for 31 years and didn't even know what a truckers hitch was until last year.
Ответитьwhat a compact video of all the essential knots! GEM!
ОтветитьClear and concise! Thank you!
ОтветитьIf you put the taut line hitch at the side of the tarp, you no longer need to bend over to make adjustments without losing any functionality in adjustments. A two-inch bowline knot at the peg end will easily grab a tent peg or wrap around a tree utilizing a toggle. An added benefit is all the knotting is already complete.
ОтветитьThe reason for 3 turns on a prusik is if you are using lines of the same diameter. If the ridge line is thicker, you only need 2 turns.
Ответитьsimple yet effective! thanks!
