You can definitely use a drill to screw them on faster, just use one where you can change the amount of torque and put it on a low setting and just hand tighten.

just a tip for painting over the chrome you don’t even have to paint at all! if you put the parts in a bucket fully submerged in concentrated zep degreaser it actually strips off the chrome and leave you with black!

Primer prob dried to fast . Ornits a dry climate it shrunk to fast

When doing plastics, you should always use a adhesion promoter before using a primer or sealer that way it is guaranteed to stick and not have cracking (what you saw)

Couple of pointers about the paint
Lacquer based primer/paint won't mix with enamels as you discovered so just verify what type you are buying to keep things compatible
The paint job may have been dried completely but most paints need an additional cure time as well. This is important because the curing process can release gasses (off-gassing) that will haze the inside of the housing lenses and once they are hazed you'll never get them looking mint again. I usually bake painted parts in an oven at 200F for a few hours to expedite that process

Use the heatgun for your heatshrink next time stops the heatshrink from burning also get some glue lined heatshrink works much better outside of the cab keeping the water out i picked up a assorted box for like 40 bucks from autobarn

Don't want to sound like a Karen.... but modifying your headlights will defect your vehicle as it is changing the ADR of the Lights. Cops will now have the legitimate reason to Defect your vehicle and immediately have you off the road... Just Saying
Most of these style headlight modifications come with a clause stating these changes are for off road use only. Its sucks I know.... look good though!

great job on these, I did my own as well for my 4runner (hilux surf) its an easy and rewarding project. for the chromed plastics you can actually just dunk them in purple power for a little bit and itll strip all the chrome off
