I don't really like the Made in Abyss op, seems so generic to me, I love the show thou its a traumatic masterpiece

I think a big point of why these songs are so popular is how they go with visuals, so the songs alone might not be very outstanding.

The Made in Abyss theme absolutely baited me with it's somewhat child-like hopeful vibe. The actual show is anything but and I am forever scarred😅

Also, the lyrics of Deep in Abyss are about being okay with throwing away absolutely everything in order to explore the Abyss even though it's well known as a suicidal endeavour that nobody survives (literally everyone who goes down there is expected to die down there eventually and it's even celebrated when accomplished Delvers die and their whistle is brought back up to the surface). I feel like, in order to properly appreciate Deep in Abyss, you need to have experienced the Abyss along with Riko and Reg, seen both its surreal beauty and its gruesome realities of pain, death, and far worse; once you've seen it, it truly feels like a character duet.

That Ghost in the Shell opening is the definition of hauntingly beautiful to me.
It gave me goosebumps 16 years ago, and it still does today.

I'd love to hear your take on some older soundtracks - something like "Konya wa Hurricane" from Bubblegum Crisis (1987), because I know you love listening to music from back when things weren't autotuned and overproduced, and even though it's a very "pop rock" song, that meant something very different 3 decades ago.

I think the One Punch Man reaction is pretty fair. The song doesn’t really do anything outside the norm, it just uses common elements very well to make an objectively good song to listen to

the re zero opening, 'Realize' by Konomi Suzuki is one of my favourite music.

All of ReZero's ops are great, a lot of Myth and Roid. Almost wish they put him through Theater D, just for fun. But Realize is great as well. I also really love Straight Bet.
