What's your favorite ancient city?
ОтветитьThey were aware Vesuvius was a volcano. It seems like they thought it was dormant, though. Great video. I enjoyed the explanations of the houses in particular. Would love to visit someday.
ОтветитьVery informative! Thank you!
ОтветитьACKSHUALLY all of Rome was black African.
ОтветитьThanks 😊
ОтветитьHow come the other territories around Pompeii were not affected by the lava flood?.
ОтветитьFrom the perspective of a past visitor to Pompeii I can say this is an Excellent video!
From a broad perspective of the city layout noting & describing the significant structures, especially those surrounding the Forum, followed by the same level of detail in describing sample homes (domus) covering the art & architecture. I would highly recommend this video to anyone studying a history of the Roman world & to use as a guide while visiting Pompeii.
Anyone who goes to see Pompeii should also book a visit to Herculaneum. Pompeii is impressive mostly for it’s scale, but Herculaneum had better and more interesting preservation in my opinion - including multi-storey buildings.
ОтветитьVery thorough and interesting documentary. Thank you for posting
ОтветитьThe fact that ancient Rome was multicultural offers an explanation why ancient Italy was able to found a world power in stark contrast to monocultural Italy of today which is doing rather poorly! 😉😇🥳
ОтветитьAnd apparently women just do not understand why men are fascinated with Roman civilization
ОтветитьI asked ChatGPT on the days following the disaster and I got emotional
Ответить"Often featuring blue screens"
Windows flashbacks intensify.
Just found and subscribed to your channel! Been subscribed to Darius's channel for a couple of years. Great work by both of you, thanks!
ОтветитьJust before eruption of the Vesuvius in 79AD, people in Pompei could enjoy incredibly wealthy and modern living standard. Probably their standard of living was much better than most of the world in the 19th century. I admire people in Pompei for their miraculous achievement.
ОтветитьI disagree with the "academic" who claims the cities were multicultural (meaning multi racial) and a mixture of peoples. Greece and then Rome conquered the areas around the Med and forced out their enemies or enslaved them. If that DNA evidence is true its only showing the evidence of slaves in the city. From the writings and art that still exists, these areas remained monolithic and did not seek to integrate anyone foreign to them.
ОтветитьAren't there skeletons inside the plaster figures? It's how they tested all the dna, right?
ОтветитьFor favorite ancient city Persepolis.
ОтветитьFirst time I was in a big beautiful church like that, Roman style, I was looking at all these enormous stone columns thinking just one thing.
These obstructive views are worse than Tiger Stadium!
Romani eunt domus...
ОтветитьWhat an incredible video on Pompeii! I'm truly impressed by the meticulous research that Manuel Bravo has put into this. It's amazing how much more we can learn about the history of Pompeii, and this video has been an enlightening experience.
The detailed exploration of Pompeian homes and the insights into the economy of the time were particularly fascinating. It's like taking a step back in time and getting a glimpse of what life was really like in that ancient city.
The visuals, especially the pictures, added a whole new dimension to the storytelling. They brought the historical facts to life, making it even more engaging.
After watching this, I'm genuinely excited about the prospect of visiting Pompeii one day. The way you've presented it has made me want to experience the place for myself and explore its rich history.
Manuel Bravo, keep up the fantastic work and research! Your passion for this topic shines through, and it's been a pleasure to learn from your video. Looking forward to more insightful content like this in the future.
Manuel, this video is soooo good!!
ОтветитьGood vid.
ОтветитьYou're a beautiful man. You should be hired for history documentaries.
ОтветитьWow, this was well-done, and most fascinating!
ОтветитьThe peak of Vesuvius was also the site of the first camp of the slave revolt led by Spartacus.
ОтветитьMulticultural by conquest
ОтветитьAn excellent video! Thank you!!!!!
ОтветитьPossible village Between Pompeii and Herculaneum? There's a lot of deep "flow" out there.
ОтветитьPink Floyd brought me here.
ОтветитьThis reinforces to me that humans are the same today as they were then. Jokes aside, we're just better educated, better fed, and have better medicine. But how we think has not changed. I think that we could take an ancient Roman from 2000 years ago, give him some classes on how our society works, and he'd fit right in and no one would notice.
ОтветитьThe beauty fills me with so much emotion
ОтветитьI hope they continue to conserve and rebuild more of the buildings. It's an absolutely stunning location. Just imagining how beautiful the forum was in its prime... I'm glad the pantheon is still standing. Although i wish they'd return original statues and true out the Christian stuff that'd been added.
ОтветитьEh it’s alright, not a great tourist spot, a lot of stones and not much else, no remains like I expexted
ОтветитьHmm you mentioned the paintings but didn't show or mention the enlarged penis roman god depiction which could be considered one of the earliest known forms of "porn" (tho you could argue it was a fertility ritual, like penis festival of Japan). People can search online and see, there is a TON of them and its what halted the earliest excavations in the 1880s ("the world is not ready for this yet"). There is also the graffitis found which allowed the rediscovery of vulgar latin. Worth mentioning is one of the rare Roman books the church didn't destroy is about Architecture and in this book Pompeii is mentioned and describes its urban planning, materials used and why.
ОтветитьThank you Manuel for this wonderful production! I didn't know you were this fluent in English, and I'm thankful because I can now share your work with my American family :D Andale, vamos a mas!
ОтветитьThis was one of the best videos I’ve ever seen on Pompeii! Everything about it, the discussion the expert and knowledge and narration, and the actual video along with the video reconstruction of what the city once looked like. It all worked out so well in this video. Thanks.🙏❤
ОтветитьNature takes away any faculty that is not used.
ОтветитьTo accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
ОтветитьYea Multi ethnic, all Caucasians. This is what you get from marxist education systems. Trying to make white culture look like it was from many different races and trying to make all other races the same as whites.
ОтветитьI was at Nimes 4 months ago and it felt and looked very roman
ОтветитьWhy didn't i get news of you before ?? Here is your new inscribed admirer anxious to receive all your vid on this fascinating matter ✌️👍🖐
ОтветитьGreat video! Beautifully explained and beautifully spoken.😎
ОтветитьI was in Pompeii last month. I loved it!! I love ancient history.
ОтветитьI was there a couple of days ago for 5 hours (2 with a guide), but man I missed a lot...
ОтветитьWroxeter! (Viroconium Cornoviorum!) Manuel, would you consider doing a video on this city sometime? Te amo sí 😀🌟
ОтветитьHow good the romans where at city plaining and how advanced it was and how robust first hand historical accounts are
ОтветитьIts funny because people think of Italian people when ypu say rome when in fact it was extremely mixed
ОтветитьThe piney the elders letters are crazy jow many people didnt run right away is crazy aswell
ОтветитьI'd love to go there for the prostitute's.
