I've always wondered if any of these projects could start locking down specific parts within an app. Like I don't want to spend all day scrolling instagram or tiktok, but if someone messages me there, I don't want to ignore them because I've hit a screentime limit.

Similarly I don't want to spend all day scrolling reddit, but if im looking for reviews before buying something, that's basically the first place I'd want to look.

I think maybe these things are best as tools to build healthy habbits, then maybe you can just use Instagram for the DMs.

There's nothing innovative here other than a blocklist. There are more than a dozen lightweight launchers that are open-source for Android that are not $30 a month. I don't know how the additions necessitate a hardware device. It seems like they forked LineageOS, forked an opensource launcher and then bought an existing OEM to flash their ROM.

It can block ip addresses that it knows about, but new sites that are created there is no way it can block them until they find out about them. It seems to me the problem is not your phone. If you are addicted to the social media and porn and whatever else this is supposed to block, it is you. It is a simple thing, just stop using the services, ignore emails they send.

I still have my iPhone set up with the blank app because of your video, i have deleted instagram in feb until last week and i have to say that now I don’t have the urge to check it like before and i managed to get away from addictive apps since than. So i appreciate these videos and will definitely check this launcher for my other android devices. this is more like a phone with parental control in my view a dumb phone should be a phone that is incapable of accessing the modern internet at all the only thing it should have is the ability to send and receive phone calls and text messages clock calendar calculator and the camera there shouldn't be a web browser and App Store most importantly no location services
