Thank you so much. You just saved my laptop and my christmas holiday's gaming session.
I'm at my parents' home for these days so i cannot use my gaming Pc but, thanks to you, i can finish Baldur's Gate 3 on my laptop without turning it in to ashes.
Method number 2 worked very well for me!

I have the same exact laptop as you, and changing the power plan worked perfectly. This video helped tremendously.

Even after doing the power plan is it normal for cpu to hit 92c gaming? I usually play on a desktop so these higher temps are worrisome

2nd method worked for me like a charm! CPU temp was constantly at 100 - now around 57-60 degrees. Thanks so much for the tip!

Hey, I tried method #2 and it didn't really work for me, so I tried repasting. I've been using my laptop for over 4 years, mainly for video and photo editing so it had a rough time with me. If you're using your laptop for longer than 2 years and it starts to overheat, you should consider changing the thermal paste, it did wonders for me :)

Method 2 showing very good results in temperature. However, can this "damage" somehow the processor if playing demanding games?

Unfortunately the second option doesn't work for unoptimised games like squad. :(

in the second method, I only see desktop background settings,sleep,display and battery on my dell g15 (i7 11800h rtx 3050) how can i find other options?

Thank you thank you thank you. I followed each of your first two suggestions (Intel app and Windows power change) and my Acer Helios 300 drops to mid 40's celsius when idle. This is a first. The thing has never dropped below 60-something degrees from the day I bought it. Running Skyrim LE with 200+ mods the thing was spiking to 206 degrees fahrenheit even with a gaming cooling pad. Ow. Unacceptable.
I'll probably also order thermal paste to see if that helps. Am paranoid about killing my CPU with accidental static discharge so am dragging my feet. Already have antistatic desk pad that plugs into grounding plug outlet, anti-static gloves, and anti-static wrist lanyard (maybe overkill). More than a decade ago I killed a cpu despite taking precautions. Still very paranoid.
Anyhow wanted to say thanks and let others know these steps might just work for them too. Oh. There is no discernible difference negative running Skyrim after making the changes. Seems much smoother to look around and travel.

I am also attempting to apply The Intel ETU to an Acer Predator Helios 300 and at install I get "Attempted to install on an unsupported platform." error. Any advice?

Hey so I contacted Acer as I bought this laptop but a 3070 version recently and they told me to go into startup apps and then disable anything not important. He specifically told me to turn OFF/DISABLE Microsoft teams, and so I deleted it entirely. My laptop came with it pre-installed so I had no clue but this was what made my CPU temps so high! Same with system temps. Disabling it allowed me to reach 50-60C idle and 80ish max when Turbo mode is enabled and I’m gaming. I tested A Plague Tale on high settings with 70 fps and the cpu hit 80’s the whole time. Easy fix but may not be the solution for all of you! Hope it helps.

hey im on windows 11 v21H2 and my computer will idle anywhere between 65 and 85c. helios 300 ph315-52. i tried to do intel xtu, but the core voltage is greyed out at 0. i did the power management at 99% and its still running hot. i would like to avoid having to take this apart. thanks

Thank you so much for method 2, made no sense why it had such a big impact… My cpu was running 85-90+, now highest it’s been is 77 and spends a lot of time in the low 70’s and less noise from fans

What was your room temp when you where testing for idle?

holy crap man i dont know how much to thank you! i was playing fall guys at low setting with 92 degrees and now its barely hitting the 70 mark!

My CPU and GPU are both on 40-50 yet my system is on 80 what does that mean? The second I turn he computer on the fans boot up loudly and stay loud. Is it possible for my Laptop to be this hot from the second I turn it on or is the program faulty? My CPU gets to 60 degrees with only 20% usage on task manager

Edit: My system is saying 80 degrees Celsius constantly yet I can touch my entire laptop and most parts are cold to the touch. I'm sure this must be a glitch or something. Any Idea how to fix this as the fans being on max all the time is annoying?

METHOD 2 WORKS LIKE CHARM!!

I use my laptop In a roll were there is no air-conditioning and the second method is vary effective and because mine has a new board the paste the technician used probably wasn't thermal grizzly it really showed some vary promising results. Just asking might I know the type of thermally compound you use on your predator I use thermal grizzly and I've never tried MX4 before

Msy i ask what version of windows 10 you using? I have the same laptop changed fans and thermal paste and still got high temperature while gaming +90 !! Is it becaus3 windows new updates? Is it right that the best and stable version is 1809?

Changing the processor power management option doesn't work anymore with the helios 300, 2020 model. I put it 99% but it still shows the cpu speed goes up to 4.0Ghz on task manager and the temps are goes up to 90c while gaming. :(

I repasted and cleaned out my fans yesterday but didn't get much in cooling nor result's.. but that second tip did all the work in my case..
Insane that Acer didn't set that setting up properly from the factory..

I am playing 3 mir4 accounts here in my predator helios 300 and man it is so hot and slowing my game. is it normal that it is lagging by just this game alone (3) opening while having opened a few tabs in google chrome from a gaming laptop? is there anything i could do to lessen the heat and it's laggings?

Hi, i own the predator helios 300 2019 version 8th generation. After adding additional ram 8gb to my unit, it seems that my laptop temperature increased dramatically and i didnt even play warzone,only browsing the net. What seems to be the problem bro?

Can someone please tell me, in the method #2, should we edit the default power plan or create a new custom power plan with altogether different values?

My CPU is running at 97(C) . I could cook an egg on it I think. Been like this since I owned it - 4 yrs.

I tried the method 2, it works but it heavily reduces the performance. My fps were down from 150 to around 110-115.
