I installed pi vpn and now my pi has no desktop gui wtf is going on? Broke my pi
ОтветитьThis was awesome. Mine worked like a minute.
ОтветитьHi there . I have followed to the T everyrhing you said but when I got to add client it says command not found . I typed help and I the list of command I have is completely different . Maybe I am in the wrong DIR or something ? I thought I made a mistake at first and start from scratch again .Same result . the command listed are completely different . I just don't know what I am missing
ОтветитьGreat video, setup works the first time. What app do you use on your phone to ping the hosts on your network?
ОтветитьThe port forwarding was the missing bit for me. Ive been bashing my head about trying to make this work and your video solved it!
Thank you so much <3
Unfortunately this doesn't work for me :( ! I followed all the tutorial and when I activate the VPN on my iPhone wireguard client, I still got the LTE icon on top and not the WIFI one. I'm suspecting that my wireguard server is unreachable from outside and I suspect the configuration step of DNS. Could you help me debugging the DNS part ? How can I be sure to reach my raspberry Pi server from an outside network ?
Thanks for your help and great video
This is great! But how do you change the location so that when you log into your VPN its in another country that you are currently in?
ОтветитьIs it possible that in addition the client from the router connects to a vpn?
Unfortunately, I have not seen this yet, and nothing found.
So the router should be permanently connected to a vpn, and mobile devices should connect to my router via vpn to access the home network.
Thanks for an answer
one humble request make one video for dynamic users please
ОтветитьActually the gateway problem-solving is what I was looking for for like 5 months. Finally I can sleep calmly! Thank you!
ОтветитьMine first comes up with a IPV6 leak warning and askes whether or not I want to force IPV6 to block the leakage. What to do?
ОтветитьAbsolutely flawless. Super simple, thank you.
ОтветитьGreat video. Now that I have pi VPN set-up, all is great, but, I am looking to connect a remote router (one at another house/location) to always use the VPN path into the house using the pi VPN. Can you assist with this?
ОтветитьGreetings from Brazil! Nice Guide. I Just follow the pihole / unbound guide and works great. Can you please let me know if its possible to run this wireguard guide together with pihole? I am running in raspberry pie 3 Mobel B 1gb RAM. Thanks for the support!
ОтветитьHi Chris, firstly can I just say a big THANK YOU for all your helpful guides and videos, they are fantastic. I have a question in relation to pivpn if you can guide me please? When I deployed it as per your video it worked as you demonstrated, however I noticed that my music streaming in the house then failed to work. (I run a USG3, and the unifi controller sits on the same raspPi as well as Pihole), I am guessing that the local music streaming Denon speakers need some routing?
ОтветитьThanks a lot, such an amazing video 😎
ОтветитьCould a Pi 4B 8GB support PiVPN and Pihole on the same device?
ОтветитьLovely video, is there any way to make so that my Apple TV goes via the PiVPN? Everything works but im trying to figure out how to do this. Can i manually assign an IP via the profiles maybe then use that for the AppleTV?
ОтветитьThanks for the great tutorial! I had a question.. If I don't care about remote connection to my home network, just vpn speed/latency at home - would this setup beat my current? Asus Rt-ax88u router with merlin firmware. I'm running wireguard with my purevpn subscription.
ОтветитьThanks. Raspberry pi 4 2gb is quite expensive in my country. Can I do it with a cheaper version? If so, what's the cheapest one I can use?
ОтветитьSuper noob here, can this setup work if I were to take my office laptop from Canada to US and still look like I am on my home network. Keep in mind I work for finance so there are strict restrictions around leaving the province and we're not allowed to install anything. Is there a way I can make this work?
ОтветитьThis video and the PiHole install video are very helpful and straight forward. But how does this Wireguard VPN compare to NordVPN other that it is free. Thanks and looking forward to more videos from you.
ОтветитьIs there any way to have a pi at my home and a pi at someone else’s home, to do a vpn/make one network? For example, someone at a other house could use my netflix
ОтветитьBut isn't that dangerous to use port forwarding on the router !??
ОтветитьAmazing video everything that i needed!
ОтветитьWill this work by taking traffic through adguardhome on the raspberry pi?
ОтветитьGreat resource, thanks for making this video!
ОтветитьAlways very thorough, thank you.
ОтветитьDon't forget to start and enable the openssh-server.
ОтветитьWhen i pinged the IP address for my VPN when I was connected to it, it said that the request was timed out. Could someone please tell me why this is happening?
ОтветитьIf you had this, would it be safer than if you had a regular VPN on your computer and lets say you accidentally turned off the vpn on the pc, this would be a good fail safe?
ОтветитьGreat video as always. Is there a way I can VPN in to my network from like a TV (for netflix) ? Just wondering if there is a box at the remote end, that could form a connection to my Pi ?
ОтветитьAbsolutely fantastic tutorial. Everything worked flawlessly, I even didn't have the same issue as yours at the end. thanks a bunch !
ОтветитьПочему заблокировали доступ на сайт из России?
ОтветитьThank you very much. Got this goin along with DuckDns on the RasPi 400. Def appreciate the good directions
ОтветитьThank you....I've been fighting this for a few days. The debug is what I needed. I didn't need that the first time I installed it and it worked, but this last install only worked after the debug!!
ОтветитьPut open vpn on a router running ddwrt and skip the pi. You don’t need it.
ОтветитьGreat video!! One question: how to setup the VPN server for the client(s) to have Internet access but no access for my home network. The purpose for this is for my friends to connect my VPN but no access to my local network. Thanks!
ОтветитьWould I be able to use PiVPN along with localxpose to work around CGNAT that tmobile home internet uses?
ОтветитьI worked on this for at least 14hrs. This never worked for me. I had so much trouble I gave up. Nothing about this process was intuitive. Everything about this installation required a deeper knowledge than I had. By the time I gave up after working on this for two days I forgot what I even needed the VPN for anyway. (*&^%$#@ IT!
ОтветитьThis was perfect, thank you so much. I requested a static IP address from my ISP - but before I was using a DDNS server, which just complicated everything. This was very straight forward - to the point. It even worked even though I was using a PI knock off (Armbian OS).
Note for users having issues: Make sure your forwarded port for wireguard is routed to the internal (private) IP address to your Pi on your router. That was my mistake.
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Nice video. But I setup wireguard and openvpn in Docker containers on an old Bananpipro. Also easy and works well.
ОтветитьI was waiting for this for a very long time !!! thanks so much !
ОтветитьIT FINALLY WORKED!
ОтветитьGreat video, the only problem at least for me is very slow speed when pivpn is on. I am using a pi 4 with 8 gigs of ram 32G class 10 card. Lite os 32bit Maybe it’s my ISP throttling the pivpn? When CONNECTED to the pivpn with 5G uw on my iPhone my carrier is Verizon my speedtest is only 9.85 mbps. When I run the same speed test with pivpn disconnected and Wi-Fi turned off and Cellular data turned on and connected to 5G uw the speed is crazy fast at 750.83 mbps I enjoy the idea of using the pivpn to replicate my home ip address but its just to slow. I am going to try GL-AXT1800 (Slate AX) Pocket-Sized Wi-Fi 6 Gigabit Travel Router and use built in wireguard. What speeds are others getting?
ОтветитьI'm not a wiz with domain names, but I own one that's not being used for a web site right now. Is the process you've described with Cloudflare essentially the same thing I'd go through to route web traffic to a my domain name on a web hosting service if I were building out a web site? Thanks. This seems like a great way to go.
ОтветитьFinally. I know this is 1 year old.
But I was consistently having issues with the VPN not having internet connection. This time the debug flag actually worked and fixed the issue
